I starting replicating this today. My 4year old has constantly reminding me that i promised him one. The bending was really hard so i ended up cutting leaving a few sections uncut. A lot more welding this way but id rather weld than hammer all day. I got the slide itself into shape. Tomorrow is the frame and pipe. Then hopefully paint the day after.

Amazing result with such simple materials and tools but that blink-shielded welding at 3:26 makes me really sad for the man's eyes :(

we alway have masks on hand and sadly many workers refuse to wear them as they were not trained to use them early in their careers. i agree, it is very dangerous, but very common in many parts of the world and the damage caused to peoples eyes over the long term is terrible

@@playgroundideas not just eyes their exposed skin like going under the sunbed every time they weld must often have burnt faces. I rememeber I was welding for a few hours on day wearing short sleeves and my arm was all ''sun'' burnt

Hi Drew, over 12 years, we have built playgrounds across the globe and volunteers are never hard to find and a welder and grinder are tools that can be found in almost every community ( and we have worked in some extremely remote locations) at fairly low cost. if tools are hard for you to come by we have many other designs to choose from that use even simpler tools such as our "tile slide" kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHfZoomugsqAp6s
