Well, I built one. The kids and grandkids love it. Mine cost about $1000 but it’s worth every penny. These guys planned it out well. The most expensive part is the end caps! If you can find a way to trim that price, it would help tremendously. My grandkids have paid me back with a few thousand smiles, laughs and giggles. It’s only been up a few weeks.

I think it is a great idea to install items like this slide to make your house a fun place to go to. Kids need anchors like a fun place to go and people who create fun experiences. I am currently having a swimming pool built. The fiberglass slide that goes into the pool will cost $8000 so $800 - $1000 seems very reasonable. It looks safe too. Thanks, guys! Love it! I am on it!

Suggest using PVC pipes, bolted to your posts, as side rails instead of the 2x6's. This can prevent splinters for anyone who happens to drag a hand along the rail.

John Treadgold brings up some valid points that I would like to respond to. First of all, we don't pretend to know what your local zoning ordinances or building codes are for your part of the country or world. Be sure to do your research on that before putting this in a commercial operation. Secondly, this is not intended to be a tool safety video. Please take proper precautions when using power tools. We officially recommend using steel toe boots, safety glasses, ear plugs, hard hats, cut-resistant gloves, self retracting razor knives, power tools with proper guards, Emergency shut-offs and any other safety steps not mentioned here. We will try to do a better job in future videos to point out what safety precautions should be taken even if we don't follow them ourselves. If you were to look into our personal lives you would also find that we ride bikes without helmets, occasionally operate a vehicle without wearing a seat belt, sky dive, ride bulls, and even occasionally run with scissors so please don't use us as the authority on safe living but we will try to be more responsible in pointing out best safety practices in any future videos.

Agritourism Ideas Personally, I think you should add a disclaimer in the beginning so that you don't have to bother dealing with 'men' whining about their own safety. This idea is for the slide is interesting. Would I complain to you if my child had a small accident? Of course not. It is my own personal responsibility for my safety.

Population control.... let the stupid ones take themselves out first...... lmfao

Why do you have the plastic pipe so big? I was thinking of doing it with 3/4 emt conduit with 1" pvc over it and greasing the area between the conduit and pvc. Also is all that extra framing really necessary? If you just put a screw through the wood and conduit where they meet wouldn't all that conduit be plenty strong enough?

@agritourismideas6908
@agritourismideas6908 6 жыл бұрын
There have been several comments about the cost being $800 and that it could be built for less. Keep in mind that the domed PVC end caps will cost a minimum of $200 just by themselves as 90 of them are needed. Pressure treated lumber is not cheap in 16' lengths, etc.. etc... The $800 estimate is what you would pay retail at your local Home Depot or comparable. This is why we encourage those that are using this for an Agritourism Business to find a plumbing or hardware store to sponsor!
@maggiesatterfield2402
@maggiesatterfield2402 6 жыл бұрын
There is no way I would pay $800 for the MATERIALS alone for just a slide when I could buy the entire gym for $1500 to $2000 made out of just as good a quality material. That is nuts.
@agritourismideas6908
@agritourismideas6908 6 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Makes no sense for a home owner. An Agritourism business on the other hand (which is what this channel is intended for) is where it does make sense. When you are dealing with 10's of thousands of guests in a 6 week period you need something that can handle constant use, is unique and fits the farm environment, and can allow for LOTS of kids to enjoy. Playsets with swings, fort, etc... do not meet any of that criteria. We do not suggest this as an alternative to a home swing set with slide.

You don't need the endcaps if you have some extra wood, make a round insert with a hole. A bit more work but if you really want to save a few bucks. Making it a bit more narrow will also save you a few more bucks.

I've Almost finished my version. I used 110mm sewer pipe so it was a little bigger, I then cut 60 discs to go inside each sewer pipe with another hole {50mm} in side that, like a donut. I did this to keep the axel central. I then used old scaffolding pipes which were fed though each sewer pipe with the 2 donut discs on each end, which are attached to a frame. I'm a little worried about my spacing between each pipe but I'm not sure that matters too much, I think it's less than a cm

it's very nice because you bounce on the pipes and don't get a high speed, which usually produces big momentum at the exit on normal sliders and that causes problems. which is not the case here.

How much space is there between the PVC pipes, and between the PVC end caps? I never saw a side view during the video showing the size of these spaces and thus, size of the pinch points between the pipes, and the pinch points between the end caps. Little hands and fingers are a terrible thing to waste.....

You can build this for under $300 bucks if you shop online or utilize commercial supply warehouses and not home improvement stores. "PVC fittings online" has the end caps at $1.75 each but cheaper bulk if you get a quote. They can also supply the pipe but I would recommend getting it at a contractor supply house in 20 foot increments. Put it this way, I got 12 inch PVC pipe in a 15 foot piece for 90 bucks at one... 3 inch will be a lot cheaper. I wish people would think a bit more to save themselves a lot of money...

I wanted to respond to the concerns over pinched fingers with this slide. Without seeing this in action up close and not fully understanding how pinch points work I can see how there may be concern but we have literally had over 100,000 people enjoy this slide over the years at our venues without report of a single pinched finger, stuck hair, clothes being torn off (as one comment suggested), etc.. Not to suggest that this (or any slide) is 100% safe but if setup with the correct size and spacing of rollers, angle of the slide, proper testing and supervision, etc... this has proven to be safer than any swing set, bounce house or other alternative we have tested over the years. This is not intended for home use as this channel is directed at Agritourism Businesses that need unique activities that can handle tens of thousands of kids in a 6 week period in the fall.

@SgtPiggie just realized my mistake. Here in germany different types of pipe are used. With the PP pipes used it is cheaper to throw away/recycle cut offs that to put on an additional connector to use them. They come with a connector from factory on one end and an additional connector is about as expensive as a pipe section, because the additional connectors require 2 seals, a pipe only 1.

@SgtPiggie The PP pipes look like these: www.hornbach.de/shop/Sanitaerinstallation/HT-Rohre/S1880/artikelliste.html They come with a fitting/sleeve (not sure which is the right word) on one side, which means you don't need to buy any additional piece to connect two pipes unless you want to use cut off pieces. I now understand that it is different with PVC.

You need to put PVC pipe down the sides, and hand rail, otherwise there will be some BAD splinters in the future.
