Brooo 1 year ago, I would’ve had no clue what u were doing on the daw, and 2 years after downloading FL, im happy to say that I GOTCHA bro, this tutorial fuckin rocks man! I spent the last year creating and making soo much while also being in nursing school,, always making a beat/melody that was in my head while studying. This winter break has been a music grind forsure. I went back and cleaned many old songs, then made my favorite one the other day, much thanks for the lessons bro🙏🏼

just a quick suggestion. If you are going to use guitar plugins when you do the second guitar try taking some of the notes just very slightly out of time. It will make them ring out just so slightly different that it makes it sound fuller. Thats why when you record real guitars you do multiple takes for the left and right track and dont use the same one. It really brings out the fullness of the stereo field.
@stxejn3 жыл бұрын
Another thing too is plugins are perfect in that they strum the same way every time. In a short burst it might not be noticeable but across a whole track you'll pick up on that pattern. When playing a guitar, your intensity with strumming and timing alters ever so slightly off beat, which helps it sound natural.

I had to laugh a bit when i saw odin come out. I've got a jackson JS22 Warrior sitting next to me in my studio, but odin + the joey sturgis pack gets that mick gordon guitar down nice and solid with the tones. Good pick on VSTs for this one. -A random argent metal producer

This sounds pretty sick. I like the detailed explanation of everything you did. Obviously for those of you who might be interested in making a track like this, playing with a real electric guitar and bass will take the sound miles ahead of any software, but yeah all around good advice and explanation. Basically the only thing keeping the track in the video from sounding just like Doom is the fact that it's all sample sounds and there's no real guitar strings being played. The other thing is (this is my opinion) but I've found that when trying to replicate the DOOM guitar sound, you basically have to create a wall of guitars. Double tracking unfortunately doesn't cut it. Quad tracking is basically the only way to get the wall sound. With quad tracking, you have to hard pan two tracks left and right, and slight pan two tracks left and right. The guitars that are hard panned should have a good amount of fuzz distortion. After comparing the guitar sounds from Ghosthack's track and DOOM I can say that while Ghosthack cuts the low end on the guitars to give the bass room to breathe, there's hardly any high frequency on the guitars. All the high frequencies are coming from the synths. Synths are great, but from what I can tell in DOOM, they support the guitar sound and add some edgy flavor; they don't form the foundation. High frequencies are also coming from the cymbals and open hats on the drums, but it sounds a bit out of place because the guitars don't have any high end crunch. TLDR: if you want to make a doom style track, use real guitars, quad tracking, fuzz, and use synths to support the guitars.
