Hi Guys! In this video I share some of the secrets to locking your dreads faster! So many people have been asking questions about this topic, I figured it was about time I made a video. I also wanted to be sure I showed you all some of the loc phases as well. My hope is that sharing the phases gives people more of an understanding of the slow and gradual process that locking is. It doesn’t happen overnight. Unless you get dress extensions...lol Hope you enjoy! Subscribe

I have natural thin/fine hair. Also before starting the braid locs (I have 67 of them), I put a non bleach lighting box on my hair. I started the braid method 5 weeks ago, i love it, yet i wish they would spread/ bud look, get unravel all the way down the braid, like messy, unkept free form look. I hope they do, I plan to not twist, roll or interlock,; just plan to allow them to take on freeform. Without the locs my hair grows about 8 to 10 inches a year. I’ll do a length check as the years go by. Starting at 43 of age. I’ve now washed them 3 times. Wash 1 and 2 I was using oils, and using a spray bottle with oils daily. I noticed this was stopping the unkept look, and was actually maintaining my style as a neat form of just braids. 3rd wash May 25 2021 was with black soap, and no follow up with any oil. I plan to not oil anymore until the loc process is budding and actually locking. In just the month time the braids have unraveled and formed a tight curly form about 3 to 4 inches of the ends, when I wash it this curl goes super straight /limp. Once dry the curl ends form back tightly as in a loc neat form. I wish I could send you a picture or video, for advice based on what you actually see. I understand what your saying, yet i did the braid method because i knew even the braids wouldn’t whole a started loc and would come apart as time goes, this is because i dont have kinky hair, i have a really thin fine curly pattern hair, in some places almost like a mixed persons textured. I was told 3 strand braid method was the only way to start my loc journey unless i did an instant lock method. I hope with removing the oils starting today from my hair, and starting this new black soap wash only, and incorporating a sea salt mist daily, the texture will force my braids to unravel even more and as well then take on the matted budding loc process. If you have any advice and have time to Email: phoenix_rf@icloud.com Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your video. I'm trying to do ringlets to start the dreds; I'm white in New Zealand and NZ is filled with white people who use crochet hooks and perming to get dreds. I am literally the only white person with tiny little 1/4 inch corkscrews attemping to get dreds and locticians don't know what to do with me. I've had what you call budding, that's great. Now I take it they will spread? I wash my hair weekly because otherwise it itches from sweat buildup, retwist every week but when I retwist they go so incredibly skinny, like, 1/8 inch,I then need to wet them to go back up to the 1/4 inch. Also I bleached my hair and have dyed it a few times. Thanks so much for this video. I can see I'm doing quite a few things I need to stop doing. :D

Well oil is always good for your hair and keeps it's from not itching, but too much oil can be bad, I'd say you're on the right track, but I wouldn't put oil in everyday back to back unlesd you have a small mixture of the water and oil in together.

Good afternoon, I just started my locks a week ago with two strain twists. My question or should I say my concern is, my hair very curly but very fine around the edges and nap areas. Do u suggest marrying those really thin locks now or wait until start to mature. Or should I just let them continue on their own..?
@TPlocks
@TPlocks 4 жыл бұрын
Kawanda. Sears fine edges definitely have the ability to lock all on their own as well but this will be a space where you’ll know what’s best. If your edges are prone to breakage and typically pretty fine or fragile it may be best to combine Locs now. In areas where my hair is thinner or a different texture typically I’ll have the Loctician make the parts a little thicker in the beginning so the hair can support the loc. It’s possible the hairs will do just fine, but I’d definitely keep an eye on them. Maybe give them a chance to mature now and if you notice them start to regress even the slightest definitely combine them!!

So I’ve had my locs for about 4 months now. I’m in the budding stage going into the “ugly stage” and I wash my hair about every 2 weeks mostly to relieve myself from itching. Every time I wash my hair I have like 2-4 locs towards the crown of my head that ALWAYS come loose and it’s like I have to start over. After watching this video and a couple of other videos I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m goin to wait just a little longer. I would get my hair retwistd basically every two weeks when I washed my hair because I felt like those 2-4 locs weren’t together anymore even though I could feel the part pattern for each loc. Also my locs tend to twist on themselves near the base. Is there anyway to keep them from doing that or is that just a natural occurrence?

It all depends on your situation. If you’re new in the journey I always recommend utilizing your Loctician for those first 3 months if you can.

TP, lion locs has a sea salt spray. They say it’s safe to use daily and you don’t need to wash it out every night. Any thoughts on this product? I’ve seen you review some of lion locs other products

I been experimenting with my home made bottle and I love it it works great. Personally I think people are sleeping on it because they are scared of what might happen. I do it tho and it’s definitely working.

Is it bad if you had your twist for 3 or 4 months and only have 2 twist budding?

Tp locks, does pink Himalayan salt work??
@TPlocks
@TPlocks 4 жыл бұрын
I’ve never tried that to be honest. In theory any salt will help the locking process in some way. The question id have though is; at what cost? The main purpose of the salt is to absorb the moisture so your hair stays more dry and tangles easier BUT I’m not sure the negative affects each salt would have on your scalp and skin over time. I’ll do more research and get back to you on this!

It’s basically when your hair swells in the early loc phases. It looks sort’ve like a little pocket of hair. (Or an air bubble) it’s one of the first signs that your hair is locking!

My loctision said I should retwist once every week,should I continue doing that or try to retwist once every month or 3 weeks,I’m on month 2 and my dreads are budding know

Did they say why? That sounds like a lot. Twisting that much over a long period of time will cause damage to the hair. Why so often?

cwango 3x if you don’t need it I’d always say once every 4-6 weeks starting out. Especially If you don’t have a specific need for it.
