Tom, you're starting to become my favourite source of Eurorack inspiration and admiration. I appreciate the fast delivery of technical details and what seems like effortless musicality.

Very cool - I've been digging the Brickman style dub techno lately 👍

One thing I can’t wait to do if/when I get an endless processor is to stack up five layers on channel 1, then put the output of channel 1 into channel 2 and save that as just a single layer there. You can potentially stack 25 layers onto channel 2 that way, then feed all of those into channel 1 again. From there it gets much trickier to wrangle more layers out of it repeatedly, but theoretically I’d imagine being able to get a full 50 layers (the 25-stack on 1.1, then four 5-stacks from ch2 onto the other layers of 1, then 5 more in ch2, mixed down to mono)
@TomChurchill Жыл бұрын
Yeah, great point, I haven’t even thought about stacking like that yet! There will probably be some tasty degradation each time you bounce from one side to the other so could be beautifully gnarly. Must give it a try 👍

This sounds so trippy, really nice patch rundown. I gotta explore LPGs a bit more. Theres someone selling an optomix in my region, I might have to get that right now.

I have mine mostly paired with the Addac Triple Bandpassfilter to achieve not the same but similar results. Great tool, which can also be interesting while hooked to a slow generative matrix of sounds through switches as well as slow random triggers to the sustain-CV with a CV-sequencer to layer as well as to memory. What I miss a bit would be five LEDs for the layers to more easily set up to which layer a cv-value leads.
@TomChurchill Жыл бұрын
That sounds cool! I like the look of that Addac filter. Also been pondering how to make good use of the CV inputs on the EP and you’ve just given me some ideas… 👍

This was outstanding, I’m just getting into dub / chords in euro rack so this was perfect, I wonder what a flame vocoder thrown in the mix would have done 😊
@Tofu_Pilot Жыл бұрын
I sold that Vocorder by Flame. It's got a sick filter bank and the spectral thing was unique but..... It seemed more powerful on paper.

Sound awesome man. I love this kind of minimal stuff. To bad the EP doesn't have a trigger input with build in VCA and a 1V/oct input/Pitch control.
@TomChurchill Жыл бұрын
Thanks! It actually does have a VCA - there’s a CV input for the output level - but the response is quite slow so I think it works better with an external VCA/LPG for anything rhythmic. Agree a V/oct input would be awesome!

What a lovely module. Great video. Optimix is a blessing as well. Great video! Where the drums coming from?
@TomChurchill Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Drums are Tiptop BD808, RS808 and HATS808 - nothing fancy...
@TheNimasan11 ай бұрын
I don’t know if you are using the disting ex but there is an algorithm for while called spectral freez which is asolutly inspired by this module. You have off course couple of more parameters and possibilities but it’s a very very great algorithm.

very inspirational, what's the pattern of the sub bass like?
@TomChurchill Жыл бұрын
Thanks! The sub-bass is super-simple, it’s a 1-bar pattern with just two notes. From memory, this is in E minor, so it’ll be an E on step 3 and a G on step 15 👍

Is kick and other percussives from Vermona DRM? Nice as always!
@TomChurchill Жыл бұрын
The drums are actually from some Tiptop modules in a rack (just above the Vermona but out of shot) - BD808, MA808, RS808 and HATS808 👍

Totally agree - a voltage-controlled filter bank would be perfect. The Zlob VC F3DB would probably be fun too.

Oh mate! Which oscillator do you use for sub bass? Thank you
@TomChurchill Жыл бұрын
I think it was the Dannysound EN129 in this. But it’s literally just a slightly saturated sine wave…

Modular is amazing. You spend 5k plus alot of space for results that you could achieve in a much better quality in 1/10 of time on a 150$ PC-System.
