Just discovered your page. I love your work. I would like to make one for my niece who was just born. Id like to know how wide the tutuwaist is after it is done. It looks pretty wide and would like know if I should make it smaller for a newborn?

Hi there! Thank you so much😊 that band is 2 1/2 inches, but they do sell them thinner. If you go to my videos, check out the Easy tutu in 10 minutes, New born tutu DIY. You’ll find that process easier and faster, if you have a sewing machine. But if not they do have that band in a 1 1/2 in, especially if she’s tiny.

I tired this method of skipping every other one but I felt it was full but I didn't like the way you could see the white of the band on top now I didn't use the wider headband material I only had 3 holes to go through do you think that matters and I used 3 colors I didn't pull tight but mine sure didn't fluff like yours.

Hi there! It may be the thinner band. In my experience the more tulle I add the fluffier the tutu. If you want to use the thinner band, I can recommend instead of inserting one strip into each hole insert 2 or 3. This will help add that fluffy volume. Also, if the white is showing on the top of the band, when you skip a hole, you can insert a strip in just that hole, at the top, and not go all the way down. I hope this helps😊
