I'm tempted to try this with Poland Spring bottles. Build a she-shed in the backyard with them.

For hard plastics i.e. from boxes, chairs, fences, etc. I will use a shredder to make small chips for inserting. Fill the voids with sand or earth. If the soil is wet, just drill a small hole to vent. Just be creative.

You can pack plastic, sand and soil into PET bottles. In fact, using fine sand and soil may fill up the gaps and make it more solid. Someone cut the bottoms of two bottles, insert one into another and just stuff wet plastics collected on the beach. Holes allow the water to evaporate. when sealed, they perform as bricks too. Just be creative, no need to be rigid and follow one style of making the bricks.

does it matter if the plastic is wet or still has food content on it?

Food is bio degradable.

Apart from the bit where he said "clean, dry plastic", no I don't think it matters!

@@catmandoza thanks for your reply! I have a bunch of eco bricks made at our school in El Cerrito, CA that I'd like to donate somewhere. Any thoughts?

Why not paper?
@CrustyBiker5 жыл бұрын
Paper in them is wasting precious space as that can be recycled easily anyway so that's the best thing to do with it, we don't make eco bricks as a craft project, it's a means to an end to keep plastic waste from getting buried or end up in waterways or the sea, if they are used in architecture, they are locked up safe for many years.... hopefully.

@@CrustyBiker Thank you for your replay, but "can" does not mean it is being recycled. There are many single-use paper products which end up on a landfill as well. Can you let me know please what is the average weight of ready-made eco-brick? Thank you

Paper is biodegradable.

@@isidoraristic9363 I know and do you know how much of the paper ends up on a ladfill?
@isidoraristic93635 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelRada-INDUSTRY50 I know, but you can't compare paper that ends up in landfill with plastic that ends up in landfill. No animal will die because of the paper.
