Melodies are so hard for me because I have this innate urge to make things be perfectly on the grid. If I use your bass notes as an example, your 4th bass note doesn't start at the 4th beat, it starts at the end of the 3rd. It absolutely drives me insane, but it also sounds good. I have no idea how to start doing melodies like that and it's been one of my struggles for the longest time
@uranus20tutorials Жыл бұрын
In my opinion, creativity comes from trying new things that you think you won’t ever do. Simply considering another note, another chord, another rhythm can make your music really unique and pop up! I’m originally a dubstep producer, but I’m now studying and practicing to make other genres that I didn’t even consider. In that way I’ve gained more skills in 6 months than past 3 years, so I guess it’s a good way. Good luck to you!
@pro-00001 Жыл бұрын
Even if your keyboard skills aren't that great, just play things like basslines on the keyboard and record the MIDI. Do this instead of snapping the notes to the grid in the piano roll. It might take 20 tries before you hit all of the notes correct in a 1-2 bar phrase, and you can always adjust the MIDI locations afterwards. Keep certain elements (often the kick drum) snapped to the grid and then un-snap everything else from the grid. There are so many basslines and little piano lines that sound great that are simply unobtainable by snapping everything to the grid.

This is actually so useful to me. Really love how you broke down the consisting elements of the brass and snares. It's amazing how you made this sound good with no over-the-top vsts and samples!
@samiirai8 ай бұрын
You can clearly see that he is using KSHMR sample pack.... Literally not a single stock sample and he using a kontakt library for vst. What the hell are you talking about?????? Let's be real now, no over the top vst and samples?? The only reason this sounds good is because he did good with his sound selection. If your samples are good from the get go and you know which one you gonna use, like 69% of the job is done, the rest is just fucking around in the pianoroll. You can sound good with stock everything no problem, but that takes a little more effort than he put into this.

I love electro swing, but listening to an entire mix reveals how formulaic a lot of the genre is. "4 on the floor" drum beat and very similar syncopated piano lines in every song. Artists need to take inspiration from the genre but then add their own creative flavor instead of the cut-and-paste sounds that end up in many playlists!
