Okay but I would unironically pay for this drawing, I really like it. I just love the way Peter connects lines and shapes like it's no big deal and the end product still looks so meaningful and just fits together perfectly, even though it's totally abstract? Like, there's no point of reference to compare the shapes to but his drawings look like they were always meant to exist in exactly that composition and feel very balanced and calming.

This video is so wrong. You spent too much time making it. Expensive art should take maximum 40 seconds to create. Furthermore, you clearly have great control over your pen. From this observation we can assume you have a skill which is absolutely not required for making this level of art. In fact it is sometimes frowned upon to have skill in this high level of society. This is because they are so far ahead, mentally, that they have gone full circle to become the lowest common denominator of society. Astonishing.

I'm of the unpopular opinion that financial motivation is not at all unconducive to great art. Hunter S. Thompson never wrote a thing without a paycheck and an impossible deadline; Leonard Cohen got into songwriting because there was money in it, when there was none in literature; the Medici and the Renaissance; Dostoevsky and his gambling debts, etcetera. But people like the idea of the starving artist- it's more romantic. And it's cheaper to starve something you don't care about.

Then you don't know much about people. I don't care about money, I give most of what I make to homeless causes and have started programs for veterans and their families. I live well beneath my means in order to help others and be a good example of not letting consumerism develop my soul. I put my money where my mouth is. So, I'll say it again, the only reason people ever feel shame is because they know they are not doing the right thing. If someone has the means to help others and feels shame because they don't. The kicker here is everything you just stated is true. My mom worked with a guy who did these art pieces and he gave her two. What it was was paper towels that he dipped in milk, then placed over a pretty metal grate that he had. Then he dried it with a heat gun, and the towels would take on this pretty brown color, to where you didn't know they were paper towels, and they would retain the pretty symmetrical shape of these grates. And he didn't even spend a lot on frames, I don't think, just black cardboard matting with thin, tasteful looking black frames under acrylic, not even glass. And he said people paid a lot of money for these.

I had art displayed once where a piece was priced at $3500. A guy was interested in it...this was his second day back to look when he asked, "How much without the frame?" I didn't miss a beat I said, "$3500. The frame is just there to protect the art." He bought it.

I love people who stand in front of a white painted canvas discussing the meaning of life that the blank white canvas is portraying. Then spend $40,000 for it. Sorry but the painter must being thinking "I should have named the painting Sucker Born Every Minute" That said I love drawings, paintings and sculptures. But i just see it for the picture or sculpture it is.
