If you had to only have one type of lathe for rings would it be a metal or wood lathe?

If you had the funds, I would say a metal lathe I think Any metal lathe is super helpful for rings. It can do Almost everything a wood lathe can do but with more precision. I made rings on a wood lathe though for 3 years before adding the metal.

How do you keep from scratching the color off the inlay rings? I have black inlay rings and during the sealing process the finish comes off the ring core.

You make cutting truestone look like cutting butter!!!!! I have just got my first metal lathe for my ring making, although I work with wood............accuracy.......

Nice! Trustone can be difficult but not too bad! The accuracy of cuts on widths, insides, or outsides is amazing for sure! And the speed you can do it.
