How to make filtered jar lids for mushroom grain spawn

if you damp your finger or a towel with water you can smooth the edge of the silicone without it sticking to you. I had people tell me my full SFDs are inferior to these types because contaminants can get stuck between the pocket of the SFD and under lid. I dont know if I want to cut my sfd's yet.

Its definitely better to have a smaller surface area for gas exchange. Plus you can get 4 or 5 filters from a single 100mm disc, rather than just the one.

Have you tried stiffened felt for SFD's? Like from the craft store? Heard it works pretty well and was wondering what your opinion is on it. And would you recommend using one on the outside and one on the inside?

Would a hot syringe melt the pillow filter,you use alcohol on the needle

Don't poke through the filter. Just raise the lid on one side just enough to squirt, it's a much more reliable method.
