For those which are interested: The zinc metal is more readily oxidised than copper, so will react to form Zn 2+ ions releasing 2 electrons into the wire. Some of the copper will react with citric acid in the lemon to form aqueous Cu2+ ions, which will gain the two electrons lost by the Zinc to reform solid copper. This flow of electrons creates the current.

Since it's one cell (lemon), he's actually shorting the terminals. All of the copper count as ONE terminal, and all of the zinc count as one terminal. You could get more amperage by wiring all of the sides together, but to get voltage, you have to isolate one pair of electrodes from all of the others. He's doing something else behind the scenes, like a hidden commercial battery. His multi-electrode battery design is bunk. If what I'm saying sounds stupid, then test it for yourself. You want 2-3 volts for an LED, and 1-20 miliamps depending on the LED. Or, if you have a digital multimeter, it will show the voltage.

Usually creating those solar panels and batteries polute a lot more then they save throuout their lifetime (example electric cars). If u want to save the planet just plant forests.
