Hello equestrian friends!!! I finally made some squishy poles! Soft rails, squishy poles, whatever you want to call them, they are awesome! Have you seen these before? I used them while I was taking my riding lessons and they were really helpful. And when I went to find some to buy, because I didn't think they would be too expensive.
I was wrong
The only place I could find these are in the UK, or China. And for 3 of these rails, it will cost $228.43 PLUS shipping. So I decided this would be a good project to make for myself.
I had a memory foam mattress topper that we no longer needed, because we got a new mattress. So I cut the foam into strips, and then found some colorful tarps, and covered them.
I used high temperature glue sticks, and really made sure the poles were sealed well.
Then I took them outside!
When these squishy poles aren't being used, I put them away. I don't want my horses playing with them, and I don't want them getting wet. If you have an indoor arena, these would be perfect. If you are like me, and don't have access to an indoor, put them up after you are done using them to make them last longer.

I love this. I was just looking at these to use to teach younger horses about cavaletti. But, I wanted soft poles to lessen the chance of injury should they stumble.
