Thank you for showing us how to do it. Is there a reason why you don’t use sugar glue instead of water ?
@CakesWithLorelie4 жыл бұрын
Water works fine so I didn’t bother making the glue. When you brush the water on the fondant it creates the same effect. Thanks 🙏

What's the best type of buttercream to use on the outer layer of the cake so that the fondant can stick?
@CakesWithLorelie2 жыл бұрын
Any kind will work. The trick is to have the buttercream soft enough while you are adding the fondant. Best if the cakes and buttercream are not too cold. The butter will harden if the cakes are cold. . However you can always use a dab of fresh buttercream or even a dab of water or simple syrup to help the fondant stick to the cake.

Hi, How would you cut the cake? Also you made some corrections on your book can you tell me what they are.
@CakesWithLorelie5 жыл бұрын
Hi Dora. After sitting out for the 6 hours at the reception the fondant will most likely soften up. I experimented with a 6 inch cake by cutting it . And it was fine. As far as the book goes. Check the cake crew files. The corrections are there.

I wasn't able to comment on the Live Stream - issue with KZbin I believe. Beautiful work as always!

Hi Laura. I believe you can only comment in the chat box while it's live. Thanks so much for watching and I'm happy to report that the cake was a huge success. The bride actually texted me right after she saw the cake. She said she was speechless, and loved her cake so much. That was a first for us to receive a text like that. 😘

@@CakesWithLorelie It's so well-deserved! It's great when people understand the time and talent that goes into making a beautiful cake. I was actually just a little late (about 2 minutes) to the live stream and but it showed Chat is disabled for this video. I couldn't see any comments at all. I sent KZbin a message about it. I had my own channel when I was a technology director and this shouldn't have happened. Hopefully, it will be fixed for next time.

How would you store a cake with this type of decoration?
@CakesWithLorelie Жыл бұрын
In the fridge. Once the fondant firms up you can cover it in a light layer of plastic wrap and put it into a box. Remove from fridge and bring to room temp slowly. (leave in box) If its not too hot in the kitchen you should be fine. If the cake goes from really cold to really how the fondant will sweat and start to droop.
