What a great idea! I’m thinking of (re)using aluminum drink cans for the metal because in my family we seem to have a steady supply. Once I cut a seam and remove the can ends light sanding should remove any printed graphics on the out side of the can. Thank you Herrick!

If you’re obsessive like me they make a jig for lining up your stamps, I got mine at Tandy leather. And you could use a granite block to punch on with your cardstock on top. If you go to a granite business you can usually get a piece free from their off cut pile. Or I got another one at a counter and tile store, it was a 12x12 display sample they no longer needed.

Great idea! Stamped metal tags will come in handy for any item that needs a long lasting and weatherproof label.

A sledge hammer sometimes works as a makeshift anvil. Thanks for the tip on making tags!

Are you happy with your espalier apple tree? Or would you rather have it as a regular tree?

If you don't have an anvil, I think it would work pretty good punching into then endgrain of a block of 4x4, 4x6 or the endgrain of a chunk of firewood.
