@@laurasutcliffe723 I wasn't sure what whip is (besides whipped cream) so I looked it up and it sounds pretty much how I make ice cream in my old metal vitamix. Just frozen fruit and coconut milk, maybe a lil sweetener if it's not sweet enough. Not proper ice cream, but still damn good. I haven't made the "ice cream" yet because finding a decent coconut (or any at all!) at the grocery store is proving difficult. I hope you make it and it's Fantastic!!

I'm from Barbados but my dad, from Guyana, made this all the time. If you don't have a cheesecloth, we grew up just squeezing it by hand and separating the milk the left over shredded meat (this is when we use it to cook like coconut milk rice etc if you're worried about germs) but it works either way (just wash your hands)

I’m not sure how the water tastes for either, but as the coconut gets browner there is more meat in the nut. So you should use a brown one unless you just want coconut water.

Brown coconut meat is delicious as it is ripe, but the water doesn't taste good because it's been sitting there as the coconut ages. Green coconut water is amazing as it's young, but whatever meat there is is underdeveloped, so it has the texture of raw fish and has no taste!

I’ve never seen a fresh coconut as I’m in U.K. and not well traveled. By the time we see them here they’re brown shells, little water and very hard flesh inside. I’m now considering travelling because of you.

Use a screwdriver to poke into the 3 holes and flip to drain the water out. Then crack the outer shell until the hard pieces fall off and you get just the white meat remaining.
