What an amazing idea. I've made knives from scratch, replaced handles on old knives and modified others. But this idea is awesome!

Love your video's my friend. I've used wax and or clay to create the bearer to reduce epoxy clean up on the blades. Take care.

You should try some Balsa wood barrier for where the tang meets the blade. It would probably leave a cleaner line :)

What epoxy exactly are you using? and how well did they hold up? im looking to make something like this soon (possibly). Thanks! (i noticed that this question was asked a few times and i couldnt find an answer so i asked myself.) btw, I can understand you perfect. better than some people i know who ONLY speak English!! I love the vids, keep at it!

hey Gavko. I couldnt stand looking at my very first knife purchase which was a Gerber LMFII...lol. I have disassembled the rubberized handle and am working on replacing the handles with maybe a wooden with glow in the dark liners or fillers in thos case because it is a stick tang. any ideas would be greatly appreciated. love your work! I would even love to send the blade to you and let you work your magic...! Cheers!

To make life easier... you can use clean clay (use sulfur-free to minimize potential headaches) , it will help seal off areas you don't want exposed to the resin (such as the blade)... Also, a bit of hot glue along the bottom of that tape would have likely stopped that leaking resin at the bottom... It's all about preparation... The less cleanup you have to do with the handle, the less likely you'll be to damage the blade. Also, when mixing up the resin, just use small wax-free paper or plastic cups. Make sure the GID powder is thoroughly mixed into the resin (otherwise you'll have clumps) so that you don't have an uneven glow. Good luck and thanks for the video.

@gavkoo epoxy is some strong stuff, i dont think u will have a problem with it braking because its soft enough to flex a lil under pressure the only problem i could c is getting scratches on it because its softer then some other materials, maybe u could make some glow in the dark insert in the micarta scales for ur berreta lol, i just watched tht vid

So is a quarter of an ounce of this powder enough for about three inches of handle? (Esee Candiru) The quality looks great, but USAKnifeMaker's powder is about a quarter of the price. If I can do one knife with a quarter ounce, I'll just get the good stuff, but if I end up having to pay like $30 in powder, I think I'd rather stick with g10 scales .
@ianmclean89537 жыл бұрын
Could this be mixed into micarta has led during the process at all?
@Troop66Guide13 жыл бұрын
@gavkoo antoher thing i thought of with this is to take like a toilet paper roll or just some rolled up paper and fill tht and suspened the knife in tht so u have extra and can make a hidden tang and some kewl curves to it, and fill ur hand, kinda like a mora knife
