Making your own jelly pellets out of ground bait is probably the ultimate trap for those big not easily fooled fish, make them with any groundbait you like and they blend in perfectly.
Matrix punch kit amzn.to/3JEJRw3 the frenzee one I used in the video is no longer available, the matirx one is great and made of brass too so will last longer

What a brilliant idea!!! I did struggle and the first two batches, I had to scrap as the the ground bait I used ( tesco dried cat food ground into groundbait ) was setting to quickly. I settled on a sachet of gelitine and 100 mls of boiling water and 30g of the ground cat food. This allowed it to be right for setting. You do have to work quick though. Right, took My Son and Grandson to the lake yesterday with the jelly pellets. I used a 6mm punch made from and old fishing whip. What I like is, you could punch these out at different sizes to suit the hook within reason. I'm going to make some 8mm and 4mm sizes of punch. Well, the fish loved them, they caught, Roach, Tench, common and mirror carp and Rudd. And the Cray Brothers.I wonder if they would freeze OK ? 5 stars for your video.

Hi Scott - Just made some - Add the Gelatine to the water, not the other way round, it mixes better (Like it says on the Packet) Also will stand a bit more hot water (say 130 ml & still sets the same) I used about 9 heaped teaspoons of Groundbait as well. I'll be using it at Brafferton Next Sunday & let you know.

If you don't get it right 1st time, you can melt it all down again in a sauce pan with a bit of hot water, add some more Gelatine or 3 or 4 cubes of red jelly (I put a bit too much Groundbait in with the first go, but still caught a few Carp on it at Kippax, midweek)

Great idea. I've only considered doing something similar with a boilie type mix and punching it out of a rolled layer (like pastry). UPDATE. I tried your idea... all good until I saw that the gelatine re-dissolves in seconds of the bait being in the water!

I have to admit this is one of the best fishing tips I have ever seen, the pellets look better than the shop-bought expanders.

Thank you for a nice informative video. What ingredients would be needed to make these pellets into wafters / semi buoyant pellets? Reason I ask is because I tend to fish a lake with method feeder over silk weed bottom. Tight Lines.

That is a really good question Graham and the honest answer is I'm not too sure, I would ask a good tackle shop for any bollie ingredients that would do the job

@@Scottsoutdoorchannel I was thinking along the lines of Egg Albumen for binding the ground bait or in my case ground pellet mix; and to use Polaris for floating ingredient. Trial and error, I suppose!

Maybe Crushed Floating Dog Biscuits could be a good starting point?? I'm thinking weight of the Gelatine might make them Semi Buoyant.

Can you flavour these mixes. ? Or are there other mixes that you can put boilie flavours and attractors into the mix to aid attraction ? This is a very good way of making flavoured pellets that break down,i know you can buy betwine pellets etc..but was thinking along the flavoured route.Would appreciate any ifeas and tips, thanks.Anthony

You can add pretty much anything you wanted to be fair, just adjust the mix if your adding a liquid etc, you could add powders too and different colours etc to get a unique bait. Scopex is a good one to add.

Cheapest groundbait. 1 part chickens layers mash. 1 part white fish meal. 25kg white fishmeal = £50.00 25kg chicken layers mash= £8.00 ( approx) £1.16 / KILO.... Now in the chicken feed is the following ground down ingredients Wheat Barley Oilseed rape Maize Oats Soya bean meal. Most of the ingredients that the big companies use.. minus any ground up pellet and biscuit meal.. the white fishmeal is brilliant on its own for paste.. But £1.19/ kilo of a quality g.b no brainer

I've never tried to be fair but not sure I would risk it though, the jelly could split when they defrost and they'd be impossible to hook
