How to Make Hot Tea with Ginger Root: • How to Make a Good Cup...
Welcome back to Beyond the Bag. Today we are going to be making cold brew ginger tea with fresh ginger. This is the sequel to my last video where we looked at making hot tea with ginger. This time around we are going about things from another thermal situation. If you haven't seen the previous video, I'll leave it linked down in the description.
We are going to start with a root of fresh ginger. When picking out your root look for one that is nice and plump with no major wrinkling or cracking of the skin. The exterior of the root should also have a fairly even color. This will help you to make sure the ginger you are getting is in good condition.
Make sure to wash the ginger to remove any leftover dirt or grime that might be left from the field. We are then going to peel the root and cut up the interior of the root into small chunks. This is going to increase the surface area of the ginger and help increase the amount of gingerol we can extract. Gingerol is the main compound that makes ginger taste gingery. It is also responsible for the flood of antioxidants and blood sugar evening properties of this amazing tea. Also, don't forget to hit the subscribe button and ring the bell so you don't miss any of our videos. Once you have finished chopping up the ginger, discard the peelings and we'll move on to start the cold brew.
I am going to be using this 1.5-liter jar with a sealing lid, however, any food-safe vessel will work just fine. I am going to place the fresh ginger chunks into the jar and then fill it with cool water. Then this is going into the fridge at least overnight. Ginger cold brews quite light, so don't worry about letting it go too long. Thanks to the magic of editing, we are going to jump ahead. The final product is a light, refreshing, and bright cold brew tea that is just as healthy as it is delicious. This is perfect for the warmer months of the year or when you are in the mood to switch things up. Give it a try and let me know what you think down in the comments below and I'll see you next time. Cheers!
