I have a tip - you can also use a stick blender to break down the paper pulp if you prefer over using a blender. If you prefer a super white paper you can add white acrylic paint into your pulp to gently color the paper. Love this tutorial it's very well explained.

When he mentioned the toilet paper i realized he filmed this during the hight of the pandemic. A role of toilet paper was like a bar of gold. Lol

Pretty cool. When I made my paper (back in 1995) I used more water in the tub and I was able to get more sheets. I don't think you made it deep enough. Just from my own experience. I'm a silk artist and I think I'll use silk as my screen. You gave me a good idea to try! I'm going to find your watercolor paints video. Thanks for sharing! 😃

In my experience watercolor doesn't work on homemade paper, but I also haven't tried using Elmer's glue in it so I'm going to see if that makes it work! Also if you're making multiple sheets, I find it helpful to have a separate container of the pulp and put in exactly as much as you need, and then you add a little more with every sheet you make, it makes them have a more consistent thickness.

Try labels off of food cans, the metallic colored labels like on peas, make kind of a glitter look in your paper

Go watch a KZbin video on how to make pulp for paper logs. Use a plastic garbage can to hold your water. Soak your paper in the water for days. To make a stirrer shredder, take a drill, get some all thread and a bent saw blade. Use drill to chop pulp.

Just started paper making. I find homemade paper is usually way too soft and absorbent to really paint on with water color. Did the Elmer’s help with this?? Thanks for your video!

The glue most definitely helps! In fact, I find this paper becoming too thick quickly. You really only need a little Elmers glue to be honest. Hope it goes well!

Hi, How many sheets of paper can you make from the mixture you made in the video?
@artrageousnate
@artrageousnate Жыл бұрын
I mean, you could easily make 15-20 sheets. It really just depends on how thick you want the paper to be. If you want more sheets and thinner paper, you could just start the screen half way down the tub of liquid and not on the bottom. The sheets I made are incredibly thick, even for watercolor paper! But, I love the thick paper feel and texture. Hope that helps!

I have a question. I really am put off by the price of BLACK watercolor paper. I would love to see you make a video on it.
@artrageousnate
@artrageousnate 2 жыл бұрын
You know, that's very true! I have no idea why it's so expensive since black dye is not. Let me do some research and testing and see if I can develop a solution. My gut and previous experience says household paint is super cheap. I would get a test container (free at HomeDepot) and tint jet black. Then, I would add it to the blender before water. Maybe use a 1 part water to 4 parts black paint. I'll give it a try and if it work I'll create a new video. Thanks for watching and the feedback!

I mean, it really depends on what you like to use as a painter! I prefer thick, heavy texture. If you prefer thin or smooth you could simply place a sheet of wax or parchment paper on the drying pulp along with a heavy book. That would make it super smooth. Thanks for watching and the feedback!

I thought you made watercolour paper from cotton?
@artrageousnate
@artrageousnate 10 күн бұрын
You can certainly add cotton to the mix, but the core ingredient is paper pulp. It's really fun to experiment with adding different elements into your paper, so I say add some cotton, feathers, string, etc. Thanks for watching and the feedback!

Is there already part 3 of this video? I've scanned this channel and I didn't find part 3. If anyone knows kindly send the link in the comment section. I'm really curious about how good the quality of the paint and paper is.
@artrageousnate

I feel terrible, since I haven't made part 3:/ TBH, the paper is insanely thick. It does have a pretty rough texture compared to pressed watercolor paper, but I think it creates character. I'll try and post a video of when I've used it. Actually, just painted with some of it this past week! Thanks for the feedback and for watching.

@@artrageousnate Hi! I had the same question as the OC. It's been 3 months since then. Were you ever able to try painting on the homemade paper? And did you use the homemade water color paints? Also, do you have a video on just using homemade water color paints? I was wondering if they dry with a chalky look considering they are made with baking soda and cornstarch.
@arnelmaniego827

this is a good video for making handmade paper but not for watercolor paper. real watercolor paper is made from cotton; maybe from cotton plant fibers or cotton rags or cotton linters. your white glue serves as the sizing for the paper and since pva or white glue is acrylic based, the paper made is not ideal for watercolor painting. it is good for acrylic and gouache painting but not for watercolor.
