A great idea! What about asafoetida (hing)? Hing gives the classic sambar aroma. I think it can be added to the vegetables.

I'm sry but in yr sambar recipe u have not mentioned about adding the daal. Is this sambar made with just veggies n the premixed sambar masala pwdr? How come no one noticed this fact? Pl reply soon thnks

I’ve never had sambar. This video makes me want to try it. Thank you. I love legumes I’m super intrigued with Indian legumes (especially roasted ones), there’s so many. A guide of essential Indian legumes would be very helpful. Especially detailing the differences between whole, split & roasted including differences in taste, texture & usage. Sujata, you’re such a treasure. Thank you for all you share.

Very nice! Interestingly, I have come up with almost the same recipe, for instant sambar but I use lemon juice instead of tamarind. Lemon powder also can be used. Your presentation is excellent. Took me back to my college days - I had a teacher who spoke with the same clarity and interest in the topic. ! All the best!

Thank you Suj!!! I do appreciate this recipe. I live by myself, and cook for one person, rarely make sambar, because it seems to be too much work to make a single serving of sambar. But this is epic. Just made the first batch. Will report back on the results, but the aroma of the podi is sufficient for me to feel great. I did however use a few pepper corns and fewer chillies. On another note, there are over 12,000 vies as of 12/09/22 and yet only 425 likes. Best wishes.

This is genius! You mam are a national treasure ❤I’m going to try and make the sambar and rasam powders today. I have an organic garden and spend a lot of time growing my own vegetables but hate cooking! Now I can whip up sambar within minutes after I pick my karelas and tomatoes. Thank you again 🙏🙏. Absolutely love your channel as I take my health very seriously. I live in UK and try to preserve my vegetables for winter. So I dehydrate courgettes and squashes and cauliflower and powder them and use the powder to make instant soup in winter. You could of course elaborate on this idea with a bit of imagination.

Thank you so much for sharing about instant sambar with the science and nutritional facts also. I made it, the mix. .now making sambar is so easy . Here I added asafoetida also in mix, instead of roasted tamarind, used juice/ paste. That's the variation.

Excellent!! As an after thought I think a bit of dry coconut powder could be added to the premix to give an aracchu vitta sambar like taste.. thanks 👍

Thanks Sujata. Sharing an all time meal tip With puliogre premix you can make good poha dish while travelling. Just dry grind poha to a coarse powder. Mix the puliogre premix to it according to taste. Now add equal part of boiling water. Keep it covered for 3-5 minutes. Your instant poha is ready. Hope you like this idea

Have uploaded quite a few South Indian recipes in Munch and Mull, though not premix recipe. Do look up Brown rice dosa, Brown rice idli, ragi Puttu,Ragi iddiappam, Molagothal, Aarchukalaki, Erisheri recipes on Munch and Mull. Some of these are gravy Currys. Regards Sujata from Munch and Mull 🙏

Mam!Your recipe and the way you explain makes me feel like I got to try this. Thanks and will sure try and very useful for today on the go working people.I am sorry I think you forgot to add one ingredient that is “Hing” for the thadaka which gives nice flavor to Sambar.
