Clara does such excellent job with the voice over and her attention to detail..... I could find it entertaining watching her construct cinder blocks!!

So helpful. I learned to sew drapes a different way, but this is better, and this is what I will use for all the rest of my drapes. And I have a lot!

Wonderful! It's great to see pattern-matching tips, but also that you could use plain fabric and skip some steps. Very thorough. So clearly explained and filmed.

I never thought about using hem tape to keep patterns matched. Great tip! I'm going to use that idea when sewing clothes now too. I love the look of these inverted pleats.

Great tutorial. I always leave the bottom of my hemmed lining separate and free from the drapery fabric. Creates less bunching and just hangs better.

You did a fantastic job of explaining how to make this beautiful treatment. As a shortcut, I simply staple my drapery weights in place.

Very good instructions, however I find making these curtains with the lining attached like this quite complicated. An easier method is to leave the lining loose and sew the lining onto the end of the buckram after it has been folded over the main fabric, easier to get through on your machine and not as many things that can go wrong, wonderfully done however, enjoyed watching the video.

I never had much luck pillowcasing the lining. The side hems would shift no matter how much pressing. I never heard of sewing the lining to the face fabric at the hem. Why?

Great tutorial! Just a quick question regarding this heading if this can be used for motorised curtain tracks instead of curtain pole? Any advise will be highly appreciated thanks.

Yes they can be used for motorised tracks I have been making professional curtains for 8 years

Great video! It makes me want to make one curtain just like this one! I am a beginner, so I think it maybe too much to do for now, so I need to get a sewing machine and do some other smaller project before this one. What make and model do you suggest for me to buy? Thank you!
@onlinefabricstore6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! We've been happy with Brother sewing machines. They're reliable and affordable. We don't have a specific model or recommendation. You'll probably want to go with one that's computerized.

Correction: @6:30 it should say "Lining Width = Face Fabric Width - 6 inches" instead of 3 inches. Shop Online Fabric Store: www.onlinefabricstore.net/ Visit OFS Maker's Mill: www.onlinefabricstore.net/makersmill/ Here's where you can find drapery buckram: www.onlinefabricstore.net/4-inch-drapery-buckram-76-x-76-.htm Feel free to comment, like, and subscribe!

I don't think 6" is right. Should be 3" per panel, since it's 1 1/2" narrower on either side. Seam allowance is the same for face fabric and lining.
@cleoburrows6 жыл бұрын
I thought one was supposed to cut off the selvage edge as it will distort the fabric if left on.
@onlinefabricstore6 жыл бұрын
Yes, some people think you should always cut it off, some think it doesn't really make a difference. It depends on the fabric. For lightweight and looser weave fabrics, it's probably best to cut it off. The other option is simply to snip into the selvage every 6 inches or so. This releases the tension, which is what the issue can be.

Calculating the length - where do you measure from? Not the rod?
@onlinefabricstore3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you want to measure from the rod and then add 13 inches for the hems.
@lhughescca10 ай бұрын
You need to include the gap from the rod to the top of the curtain. If you're doing floor length it is important to get it right otherwise they'll be too long

Can you “stitch in the ditch”?
@onlinefabricstore7 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's much faster to stitch in the ditch when making the pleats. If done carefully, you can't see the difference from hand sewing.

Clearly you know your craft but why in the world do you play this horrible thumping music that we have to tune out to learn from you? For the same reason that teachers do not play music in their classrooms while giving math or language lessons, please consider losing the music track: it does not 'complete' the video.
