quite interesting your insight and your misconceptions during your first year at med school, personally, i've devised a way of being self-conscious on actually learning how to learn, before even trying to "digest" all the subsequent classes, tests, and lectures i was bound to fulfill and ace. funnily enough, in this country, you leap right into med school right after finishing high school, thus, making med school a lengthy 6-year venture. props man, and keep up with the good motivational videos!

I truly am thankful for this video. As a sophomore in high school with too much time on my hands, what you said about having more on your plate making you more effective really spoke to me. This really gave me a boost of confidence and validated my methods of maximum efficacy. (I aim to become a surgeon and am about to become a surgeon) I am taking all honors and an AP course next year along with being part of the ems in my town and three sports seasons. So I will have a lot on my plate if you add college visits. Thanks again.

Trying to stay focused and positive is ten times harder when it seems like everyone around you is either beasting or vocally distressed. Wow thank you for this! Definitely relate to everything you said especially the part of panicking due to a test and having tunnel vision as a result. I know the information but I tend to stress/get anxious about my ability and perform less than I hope. Working on it by incorporating more MCQ's to my study pattern to get used to all the possible different ways a question could be asked by creating a broader approach.

I volunteered at a childrens hospital for a year and went to mexico several times to do humanitarian work. I don't think you need to go out of the country, but sticking with at least a few volunteer experiences for a year or more will make your application a cut above the rest (in my opinion). I chose a school that had extremely hard criteria to meet to apply for school, and then I was golden for any other school I wanted to apply to. More than one way to skin a cat though, hope this helps :)

I am a high school student and I just finished my first year. I am already looking toward my future as a doctor and already it is causing me to drop a class I have been taking since 6th grade and I love it. Band. In my school, to get an advanced diploma, you have to take 3 years of Spanish and I have already fucked up. I should have taken two semesters of Spanish last year so I could finish it this year and have more time for med classes in my next two year of high school. I am taking intro to med and Spanish next year and that it all I have time for.

Get good grades in school, develop good study habits and do well on the SAT. Get into a good college and find a degree field you enjoy, do well in that and study hard! Do any extra curricular's, shadow a Dr and most importantly keep your GPA in good standing in high school and college. After that start applying to medical/professional school. Good luck! -sincerely a Biology Pre-Medical Undergrad Student

Hey I'm 13 as well and I've wanted to be a neurosurgeon for most of my life that, a nurse, or a dermatologist. I differently want to be a neurosurgeon luckily my mom is a neuroscience nurse and her sister is a doctor so be gotten a lot of guide lines from them. 1. Pay attention in science 2. Study 3. Always do any kind of homework 4. Get a part time job anywhere once you are the age 5. Get good grades 6. Look into different kinds of doctors and find the kind you want to be 7. Read blogs from that kind of doctor 8. Email that specialty doctor and ask them how they like their job 9. Have a stable GPA 10. Have good study habits & stop procrastinating 11. Take any chance you have to showdown in a hospital

As a high school senior who is struggling to get accepted, FOCUS ON SCHOOL. Take as many anatomy classes as you can, get good grades! If you dont understand whats going on in science/math classes, GET A TUTOR. Get help! If you want to be accepted to a good college, you're gonna need good grades. High School grades is what they look at but you need to get started now.

I'm a 13 male who is passionate and caring, and I found out I want to be a neonatologist. Advice decide which division you like better or have strong passionate about and stick it! Study, you don't have to have a science undergrad, people said that English Major in college helped them do well in med school. While others say Chemistry helped them. Found out what you like major in it then go to med school. Requirements to become a doctor: 1. Finish High-School with atleast a 3.6 and try you hardest to get A's in science, and get aim for honor roll or AP classes. 2. Major in something you enjoy in undergrad at a university. 3. Find a med school program that has your division of what you want to do. 4. Residency is about 2 years. 5. Fellowship is 3 years. Total years:13-15. Good luck!!!!

Hudannie1 and dignity123, I was a business major. I decided to pursue medicine after an unfulfilling life in sales. My little brother and his wife helped me through the premed process, they are a year ahead of me. His wife tutored me for the MCAT, tutors are very helpful. Other than those two, I didn't have any career counseling, or doctor friends. I did however shadow a ton before I was set on this path. I met doctors that were very helpful and ended up being awesome mentors.

@sdrthompson10 жыл бұрын
Lolo Ferarri I was constantly finding something new to motivate me. For a while it was running, I decided during 2nd year board study to prepare to run my age. I wanted to run 30 miles on my 30th birthday. I would study and then take a random hour out of the day to run for 50 min. I had never run before in my life and had hated it up to the point of starting my training and then it became a real escape for me. I also motivated myself with new toys once in a while, like a Nintendo once, or an iPhone. Really anything that could distract me for a second was good motivation. I would study for no more than 50 min at a time usually and I tried to be strict about breaks taking no more than ten min. Hope this helps, good luck!
