Hi. I'm not vegan but I was curious about this taco filling. Today, the majority of the fresh Jackfruit is from Mexico. How using fresh "green" jackfruit? It can be found in many asian markets like Vietnamese, chinese and Korean markets. It's really big though, around 15-25 pounds. Green jackfruits would have the "milk" or sap. So, we definitely have to get rid of that somehow. It's not in the one from the can. Must learn how to handle the sap. Many people have a allergic reaction to the sap. It is very sticky also. When using a knife to cut it, it should be oiled first to be sort of non-stick. I'm trying to get a tree going, in southern California.

i haven't tried this yet but I imagine adding sage would really benefit your pork flavoring as well since that's what chefs add to sausage to give it that sausage flavor. If you've never tasted sage once you do you'll immediately get what I'm saying.

Eating young/green jack fruit has been done more many many years in Asian countries. In many tropical areas such as Jamaica we have been eating it ripe as often as many Americans eat apples in season.. Its only new to the US, Asian dishes often require it be brined, so that's why you see it that way.

I'm going to try this. I opened the can and immediately it smelled so strange. Almost like some kind of medical facility sanitizer or formaldehyde. I didn't' t enjoy the smell of it at all. I had heard that it supposedly tasted like pork but this didn't taste like anything savory at all. It tasted very odd. Even the acidity was not pleasant and I really don't mind acidic foods. In fact I rather enjoy a nice pungent dish. This stuff was just ODD! LOL Thanks for the video. Definitely going to give this a try. Hopefully my next try, I will actually enjoy it.

Why bother eat the jackfruit then if you added pork flavored broth. Doesnt make sense to me. The reason they do this is for vegans and vegetarians to have a meat substitute.

@@tiaw3423 You make no sense at alll. First off im vegetarian and i eat vegan food all the time. The next thing is i didnt say anything about a non vegan eating vegan food.
