@@VladSlickBartender in chile we have good wine, even our ''bad'' wine, (pipeño), that is oxided white wine (the barrel where it is made is crafted of a wood with a lot of pores, so it oxidized), the pipeño is used to make a really simple punch, but really tasty, you can use white wine or even sparkling wine. TERREMOTO (means earthquake) 6-8 Oz of Wine Add a ball of Pineapple Ice Cream (it chils the mix) The 2 oz of grenadine The story of this simple punch was that after a really strong earthquake, the people started to drink it with the scraps of the stuff they got, this punch bond the people together and is drinked anually during the independence week of chile.

Wow the matcha highball blew my mind off, in my opinion it reflects japanese taste very well. Looks so simple yet refreshing in its own way. You might gave me the push in the right direction to make my signature cocktail for my upcoming mixology class!
@mndlessdrwer

I've noticed that the Japanese are a culture that really appreciates a slightly bitter flavor, and matcha is a perfect representation of that. Even ceremonial-grade matcha powder will have that slight bitterness cutting through the barely sweet, vegetal flavors of the tea. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of matcha due to the slightly gritty texture it can have, even when the quality of the leaves and grind is good. Some people describe it as having a silky, creamy mouthfeel because of the texture the powder imparts to the liquid, but it's a textural problem for me, so I typically make mine as a latte if I use it at all, since the milk helps to mask the texture for me. If you want to cheat, get an electric milk frother and use it to mix your matcha with water or milk for your beverage.

I love Japanese whisky and their cocktail culture! I'm always so fascinated watching their bartenders make drinks on youtube. I have yet to visit a cocktail bar in Japan, definitely a goal for the future! I believe it is pronounced: U (like the oo sound in "noodles") ME (like the me sound in "men") SHU (somewhat like the shoo in "shoot") I'm not Japanese, but I took Japanese class for 5 years and studied in Japan for a semester. I hope that helps!

The manga "Bartender" is an interesting read and provides quite a few fantastic cocktail recipes as well as their history and some useful bartending techniques. It's nowhere near as flashy and bombastic as many of the food-based manga out there, but is still an excellent series.
