I made and exhibited similar styles of live edge in the early 2000s. I had a chance to look at a collection of Nakashima in Pittsburgh at a private residence. I was quite surprised that George was not afraid of wood screws on many joints like you used, and even on some of the butterflies...I always thought he was using just glue and fitting everything. Of course, that added screw holds everything together longer I'm sure. Nice table, its a well done work of art!

Beautiful work, I love it ! I'm a Nakashima fan too ! But… otherwise, may I give you some tips ? - at 2:08, if you don't want to mess with the wire, just screw a little hook in the ceiling, it will hold your cable up and keep it safe - at 6:20, keep your nice long hair out of the turning machines, please, a simple elastic ring will prevent your face to be driven to the blade… - at 6:30, never let a hand beyond the outcome travel line of your chisel, it could be veeery painful ! Anyway, one more subscriber here !!!

That is a smart jointer jig for the router. I'm gonna use that. No money to buy Jointers.

I love this. questions… is the joinery up top the only thing stopping the table from collapsing to the left or right?

Is the top attached to the base or just sitting unfastened?

The top is fastened with flat brackets.

Hey man, great video and final product. Building a nakashima table now and came here for inspiration. Just a heads up your hair was getting awfully close to the table saw blade when using cross cut sled around 6:20
