That is freaking cool! I was expecting something way complicated like writing your own program and running it off of a Raspberry Pi. But this is so simple and easy some make stuff so complicated that they just overlook ideas like this. Thanks for sharing!! And I want that plate! lol I'd hang it right about my Kenner Knight 2000.

Back in 2000/2001 I helped co-worker/friend of mine begin her build of Kitt with her 84 Trans Am. In 2005 when we brought it to a Dukesfest in Britol, Tenn. at the request of Ben Jones himself (he even put a Kitt stunt car in the show because of it), we used something similar. She had a PC laptop and bought some voice recognition software and a wireless mic/transmitter. We also had prepared many Kitt phrases on her home desktop computer with Microsoft's Sound Recorder program (editing software was not abundant then) after downloading many Kitt phrases I recorded from the dvds using an old 80s boom box using it's plugin style mic to the dvd player audio. Well at her house in a quiet room it worked with her voice but at the show in the open with ambient sound it only worked with mine because of my deeper voice. Our problem was that my voice was also coming over the front bumper speaker as well because then there was no way to not do that. My question to you is, do you place your laptop in the back of the car like we did to use the voice software or do you have another means of inputting these command prompts to the car as well as the response MP3s?

That was very easy ;-) Reminds my of a Soundblaster AWE32 tool from the mid 90's were you could start an application with your voice. In that time you had to pre-record the word or phrase you wanted the computer to react, voice recognition has improved a lot over the years. Maybe you can add some extra "intelligence" by not always play the same mp3 on a phrase but make a small batch program that picks randomly 1 out X possible answers. I don't know if that is easy to do on a Mac.

Are you saying you have a macbook in the car that runs the software? If so would there be a way to do that but not have to bring in the laptop? I cant see there really being a way if it's a computer based software.

Have you managed to do turbo boost, that could easily be nitrous oxide when you press the turbo boost button, in the show he pressed the turbo boost button and it could go quickly along the ground or jump. You got the voice so may as well get turbo boost working.

Thanks for sharing. All your sound bites seem to be from knight rider. Have you ever thought about pulling sound bites from other shows that William Daniel's did, to increase K.I.T.T's vocabulary?

Knight Rider He did a show where he played a doctor in the 80's called St. Elsewhere. He was doing both shows. You should be able to.get some good sound bites from that show.

Yes, William Daniels should be appreciated, the way I see it, he didn't get much appreciations from Knight Rider fans, if I live in the USA and built a TransAm KITT replica, I'll chase William Daniels' signature first for my car, because he's the KITT! And the Hoff was only the driver, I'm a big fan of KITT, not Michael Knight, I can have KITT replica but I can't be Michael Knight replica, so he's less important than the car, so I'll find him later on 😊
