Hey guys! Quite a simple track this week with a focus of the organic and natural sounds. Plenty of room for vocals on top of this instrumental. Let me know if you have questions about anything I've covered in this breakdown :)

Nice one Tom. This directly inspired me to write a track today 👌

@@tombenjaminmorris mainly house but I’m currently delving into a Bonobo type vibe while I try and write an album. Hoping to get one out this year 🤞

Hi Tom, really enjoying your tutorials. I would be interested in your opinion or recommendations on gear to recording your own samples / hits - but specifically on the go, i.e assume something like a portable condenser mic ?
@tombenjaminmorris3 жыл бұрын
Hey Michael, thanks for your comment! I've been thinking of doing something similar. Something like the Zoom H5 would work well. It looks like you can use the built-in microphones or connect your own higher quality mic through an XLR cable, all battery powered which is nice for on the go

I am finding your vids quite inspiring, i like how you keep it simple. Thanks. Also nice that you're using Logic! I second the comment below about covering Boards of Canada. Should get a few views. Might be worth doing a couple of vids on them if you like their stuff like with bonobo as theyve made such varied stuff over the years. I am struggling a bit with getting my plucks to sit right atm so if its of any interest to cover melodic progressive house that could be cool. Christan beat hirt's production is what im going for pluck wise. My favourite use of his plucks is in the song 'Toes in the sand' by Dinka. I know in theory they are simple as hell but theres something he does especially the the 'dinka' stuff. I love how warm but also bright they are (i believe they are layered) Theres a vid of him on youtube explaining a little of his process and he was using a super old version of logic and using Es2. Anyways, yeah maybe Dinka style could be an idea. Floating Points would be another great one to see you cover, his sound is class. Thanks again.

Brilliant, I'll make sure to bump this one up the list in that case. Thank you for the multiple suggestions, I also like Floating Points so that's something I can look into too :)
