What if u use a peltier module fan to blow through the cans? Meaning cold air will blow straight in aluminum tube plus keeping the ice around it even colder.

If you're going to mk a cheap one like this its best to put the cans lower. You will either have to seal the openings with caulk or just use frozen water bottles or leave the ice in the bag. Cold air falls which is why its always coldest at the bottom. The best cheap design is by using a rack of some type like in a refrigerator and thats where the ice goes. You cut 1 or 2 holes on the top lid of the cooler and sticking a PVC 90 in ea hole. At the bottom and below the rack hook your fan or blower and attach it to the side of the cooler. I use a boat blower and man does it put out the air. The air comes from the bottom pushing all that very cold air to the top, through the ice on the rack making it even cooler and when it comes out of the (Adjustable) 90s at the top the air is all the way down to the 30s! This is Fahrenheit btw. Its a very easy and cheap design and is hands down the best so far because the air literally is that cold coming out. There are even videos of this exact design im talking about with proof of how cold it gets. The key is getting UNDER the ice where the cold air falls and stays for the most part. Hope this helps.

I wonder if you used rolled up thin copper sheets instead of the aluminum if it would work better. Similar concept to other people wrapping copper tubing in front of a fan and running ice water through the copper pipe with a pump.

Suggestion why not cut aluminium cans into panels and line the styrene box for cold surface to keep the ice colder for longer !

No drain for the condensed water inside the pipe

The duct you create with the beverage cans should be at the bottom of the cooler; not through the middle. If in the middle, the weight of ice and water could make it collapse. It would also get colder if it’s at the bottom and therefore UNDER the ice. The concept is cool - much more cool than the air coming out. Problems are: (1) Air moves through the unit too quickly for it to get cooled. (2) Tiny fan will only push air a few inches away from unit. (3) A stronger fan will further shorten the transit which will worsen problem 1 and also add more heat from the motor. (4) If you slow down the air transit enough to really cool the air in the duct, you’ll get condensation in the duct and an even weaker push of air into the room. I do like the idea of a closed duct to avoid blowing HUMID cooled air (as you would if the air was making contact with the ice or ice-water). But you would need to set this thing up just inches away from your face and allowing the cool air to fall and give you a few minutes of relief.

★it looks nicer than other DYI cooler, but the temperature of 23.6℃ is not acceptable. Others reach as low as 5℃ at the outlet. I would like to see how it improves if the box is filled with water and ice so that the aluminum can touches zero degree iced water.

Air conditioners remove hot humid air from the room and and blow it outside while a coolant cools the room. This only blows cool air from a container without removing the unwanted hot humid air and expelling it.

Adding salt does not make ice any colder. Using a freezer that can remove more heat is the only way to do this. Adding salt actually causes freezing point depression, which means the ice will actually melt faster. There is no benefits in introducing more solutes to water.
@OtepArc3 жыл бұрын
@@pointless132 i guess your wrong about ice melt faster when have salt. Fisher broker put salt in ice to prevent fast melting in ice.

@@OtepArc You're*. Also no, colligative properties. Look them up. Adding salt causes freezing point depression which shortens time of water staying in solid form.

As Wynn Ni points out below, ice coolers are nice if you have a good source of ice that is from another room. This is a very inefficient (energy wise) way to use your refrigerator (for making ice in the first place) as a room cooler.
