Which option u r using? Try reversing the selection sequence, because it matters the sequence in which you have selected the two images.

can this be scaled up to be printed on a sliding door? if yes do I need to change the width of the rectangles or something?

I think u can scale the print to any size you want. The size of template as well as grid will scale accordingly
