1000% agree. Grading and selling has been the biggest catalyst to my son’s (really it’s ours, but it makes me feel less dorky to pretend it’s his) collection. I did get a BIT lucky in hitting 2 Magikarps in 10s back when they were $75 raw and had just spiked to over $600 in 10s, but even without those the bulk of our value has come from grading. The only time it makes sense to rip packs is when you’re actually master setting since you need those bulk cards & reverses. But even then, that’s like one booster box and ETB tops before you should buy the remaining singles.

Man every new collector needs to watch this video! I finally kept my first evolving skies pack sealed and have no intention on ever opening whatever packs I get of certain sets. Single searching and buying has become my new addiction over pack rips. I’ll still rip all of S and V but SWSH era stays sealed for me from now on.

Great video bro! I got back into the hobby beginning of scarlet and violet and quickly loved the sword and shield era cards a lot more and started snatching up a lot of the big ones beginning of the year when prices were low when the prices started to blow up I just got my collection and I didn't want to part ways now prices started to drop and scared they're going to drop more and have been on the fence about selling and getting out of the hobby but with all the information that I have gathered over the last year or so I'm pretty informative on what's going on in the hobby and what cards are moving I could probably make a pretty lucrative business out of this.. my first submission I sent 10 cards and 9 came back 10s so I would say I have a good eye for mint cards so I would like to start buying raw and grading for profit. @MarketScraper7 күн бұрын
@@buffalobill9793 those tips are also very important. Brew I actually have a different take on what products to open. And this has to do with not only current cost but future cost too. For example it is "expected" that a single pack in a booster box will out perform almost every other form of a pack. An example of one strategy, almost every release gamestop and best buy have promos that can greatly offset the cost to open a few packs.

Sound advice, I def am an advocate of keeping your eye out for an opportunity. Grading from the UK is a bit trickier as we are kinda forced to use a middle man and it can take ages to get your cards back so there is no quick PSA flip for us, there are UK grading companies but like you say PSA rule really. Great video, full of helpful tips. Too bad it's not like that in the EU, especially with grading. Apart from CGC that has an office in Germany, grading with PSA, is more or less only through a middle man (which is expensive, but less expensive then sending them on your own). Also, on e-bay shipping, customs and VAT just destroys any kind of a deal. Also, since UK left the EU, buying from Pokemon center costs way too much for the same reason as e-bay, plus, you need to use a proxy service cause they don't ship to EU. For us is just Cardmarket for singles and Facebook groups, more or less.
@MimikBrew9 күн бұрын
All of that is really annoying and seems like PSA needs to do a better job expanding in certain areas. Like there should definitely be an EU location by now that helps customers and PSA. I hear about those difficulties all the time. Even in Canada everything is a pain in the A

The reason there is such a huge difference between PSA10 and PSA9 is not because poke collectors are picky about condition lol. Its because PSA has structured their grading system in order to give out as many 10's as possible. Thats why they dont use half points and thats why anything less than a 10 at PSA is undesirable. That is not unique to pokemon card collecting it is the same for all tcg cards and spirts cards alike.PSA9 or less are undesirable because of the way PSA runs their business. They pass out so many free 10's that anything else is undesirable. Also the difference between regular etb's and pc etb's is not the same as the difference between retail and hobby sports cards lol. The reason you get more value out of PSA is because they are the weakest graders or softest graders. They will give 10's to cards that all other card grading companies would not. Because of this PSA's 10's are the weakest in the business. In other words the actual quality of cards that receive 10's is lowest at PSA. I wouldnt recommend buying PSA 10's without giving it a thourogh going over because there is a good chance that card is unworthy of its 10. Also the slabs and labels PSA uses are the cheapest in the business.

@Mimikbrew Should've listened to your advice about Beckett, because I just sent in quite a few of my cleanest cards after just starting collect 2 months ago, including 1 Mimikyu SM Team-Up promo, out of 24 clean copies I had of it and the Pikachu SM promos. I think part of the appeal of BGS's BLs and their price is the appeal of exclusivity, after talking about it with a friend of mine as to why he buys CGC BLs for bragging rights. The more BLs there are, the less premium they'll command when more enter the BL population. Hoping like you, I get some 10s and a BL so I can fund my hobby for cards that make me feel happy like the Parasol Lady in your top 10 beautiful artworks video.
