yup, all the 151 and ES always sold out at my city, except once when I got a 151 etb

i found out about pokemon vending machines in my state (washington) around 1.5 years ago. i go quite often, i know the timings of restocks. i've seen scalpers waiting in line while the restock happens. every time i beat a scalper to his locations they get super pissed because i buy out whatever is hot (evolving skies loose packs and ETBs). one time a scalper beat me to it and i told him straight up that i was going to the other vending machine 2 miles from here before he can finish getting his order, just to spite him lol. i did a lot of digging and found the scalper's tiktok channel, him and his bros/cousins go around and grab everything during restock. these pokemon vending machines aren't a secret anymore though, i'm pretty sure everyone in washington who collects pokemon knows about them - which is a good thing!

My Kroger has one here in Indiana.. I check it each week when I get my groceries. All the 151 is always gone

its crazy how you have to know your vendors schedule to get anything but honestly this isnt any different than walmarts, targets, and so on being scalped.

I went to my machine today after our power has been out for 3 days and it was totally wiped out... I go often so it must have been restocked right before the storm

Is anyone seriously buying from scalpers at these outrageous prices they are trying to flip for? I understand some people have a gambling addiction and need to crack packs but I’ve seen people with those 151 tins on Facebook marketplace from Costco have to drop their prices from $80 to $50 before sold. Obviously it’s marked up but nothing close to what they hoped.

Check the barnes and nobles next to that frys, I got a SS etb there last weekend and got the SIR pikachu. Those two frys that are right next to each other with the pokemon centers are always empty. I wish I could see the goblin who buys it out and publicly shame them lmao.

As far as how often they restock those machines, around me they come by every 2-4wks not weekly. Spoke to the dude who was filling it up and asked about how often they service and said this was going to be the last one for a while since suppliers were being limited to certain numbers per machine (this was end of sept). But it's not so much that they sold out of the products either, they were "sold out" since they installed the machine lol they never got stock in for half the stuff around me. 😅

I got back into the hobby when Twilight came out and have never even seen an English pack of Evolving Skies in person at any store in Illinois or Missouri. Best I got was a Korean pack from a mystery box at an antique store

The numbers you provided were definitely eye opening, and those numbers were for the vending machines only. Just think about how much of this stuff gets pumped out across every avenue Pokémon cards get sold. Should make people really ponder the true "rarity" of these shiny rectangular pieces of cardboard we love to collect. Manufactured scarcity is a thing and TPCI has it down to a science. Collect for the love, not for the money. As someone who has seen the rise and fall of the 90s card boom, I just hope you tread carefully, don't overspend and collect for the enjoyment. The money aspect can be a nice side effect but try not to make that the main focus. The only reason people would pay MSRP for something in these is if said product in machine is only available on the secondary market at an inflated price, or they're just really impatient and impulsive. It really sucks that there's scalpers just waiting to pounce on a restock regularly. They probably studied up on these as much as you did, Brew. I bet anyone who frequents the machines often enough see the usual suspects on the regular. I used to see the same ass hats at all the big box stores loitering around waiting for the vendor to show up. It was sickening. Would be cool to see these pop up in Honolulu. They had Worlds here. Kick us a few machines please, Pokémon!

I’m in WA and I visit four machines on a regular bases. Two are near ish my house and two by more work. They are normally out of stock of anything I’m looking for… except for one. It’s the only one that has stock for about three days before it’s gone. Keeping that location to myself for now lol.

Pulled Gold Pikachu from Surging off of a SINGLE SLEEVED BOOSTER PK from fred meyer, the cashier even said "dont go pulling any pikachus" and i responded "I will" on the way out. Never before have i disregarded everyone saying the surging is crashing and all the pricey cards are on the way down. It is a beautiful card and its only going to go up
