I know there are some nice places to move/retire or for any reason you would like to live in a different country that are really nice but after I traveled to a lot of different countries around the world I noticed/found out that Mexico has it all, you can find a place in Mexico according to what you have in mind. Mexico is a world on its own!

Queretaro is very much like southern California, LA- rolling hills, eternal spring weather with no humidity. It's becoming very Americanized. Not really a stretch for Americans who have never traveled abroad. It's an easy place to live.

Taylor. I am a very healthy 77 yo living now in the GTA part of Ontario Canada (Oakville). I have spent much time in Mexico, but it has been years. (I can still speak a little Spanish.) I know I am not a CODER, but I have been trying to get the most menial of jobs for years unsuccessfully. I retired from the Real Estate business years ago, and I'm now bored, but I do not owe anyone any money and have about $52000 banked, plus I own a (guesstimate) $24000 Cadillac. What can I do, especially in Mexico? (I am planning on CDMX for dental work very soon.)
@taylorwilkinson92722 жыл бұрын
Cool! There are lots of great sights to see in cdmx! As for work, in my experience, foreigners in Mexico generally have better luck working for international companies remotely (or freelancing).

At home, could you drive for Uber. I have driven for Uber part time in NC from my late 50's into my 60's. Not sure I would want to depreciate a $24,000 car doing that. My cars have started at USD 14,000. You could look at all the possibilities on Upwork. I have been thinking about copywriting/proofreading, but it depends on your individual skillset.

Taylor and Alex, I know you both taught English when you first moved here. With what company/school did you teach at? Was it mostly online? Have you done any teaching in the classroom? I am in the process of studying for my CELTA certificate. I know the money is not great, but not pursuing teaching for the money. I didn't finish my degree years ago (life kinda happened). I am hoping to be able to get some experience while we are here.
@alex-wittman2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Robyn! We taught for Vipkid when we first moved to Mexico. We haven’t done any classroom teaching in Mexico (although we did work in public schools in Spain). From what I understand, the pay isn’t great in Mexico by US standards, but there are opportunities-even more so if you’re willing to commute/have a car.
@taylorwilkinson92722 жыл бұрын
From what I understand, the CELTA certificate is probably the most highly regarded ESL cert, so that might open some doors - whether it be online or in person. Best of luck!
