Do you plan to have a course on non-dividend paying stocks? Most of the technology companies (apple, Microsoft, visa, etc) are not paying high dividends but still growing in value. What are some of the ways to analyze those?

How much capital does one need before dividends return enough to replace an average income? I understand all dividends are different so I'm looking for a general rule of thumb.

Are you still doing your simply investing reports?
@SimplyInvesting6 жыл бұрын
Yes, I'm still doing the Simply Investing Report. I've expanded to the report from 110 stocks, to tracking 180 quality dividend paying stocks. Each month I indicate which stocks are undervalued and which ones are overvalued.

Where do I go to buy shares to make dividends? (total rookie here) I started using Robinhood but was told by a friend that even though I'm buying shares there's no dividends, only trade profits.

You missed something called inflation. overtime, the money loses its value and it won't have the previous power to buy goods. your 2479 might be worthed more than 4606 at their current times. Does it make sense?

I use an online discount broker TD. Most online brokers (in the US & Canada anyway) charge about the same nowadays. You can search for online reviews and pick the best one for you.

I'm beginning to give up on stocks🤦♂🤦♂💔💔. They are not what they use to be. Everything is just going sideways, all I've only experience are losses. I'll need some guidance, Please
@SimplyInvesting2 жыл бұрын
It might feel like it right now, that stocks are going sideways. But I've been a dividend investor for over 22 years, and I've gone thru a number of crashes and market downturns. The good news is that every crash is eventually followed by a recovery. If you're looking for guidance have a look at my free resources: 1. Over 200 blog articles about dividend investing. 2. My KZbin podcast channel with a new episode every Wednesday talking about dividend investing. Learn as much as you can from my free resources first, if you still need help feel free to book a call with me. All the information is available on my site.

Sorry maybe im missing smthg. How is 4k gain over 18 YEARS "incredible" ?
@SimplyInvesting6 жыл бұрын
The gain is $4606.50 which represents a return of 85% just from dividends, in reality the gain is much higher, because I used those dividends to buy other stocks which have also been paying increasing dividends. The alternative would have been putting the $2479 into a Term Deposit at 3%, earning a total of $1338.66 in interest, if the interest was re-invested you'd get a total of $1741.33. My TRP example gets even better, the stock was purchased at $13.40, today the stock is at $56.93/share, including dividends this represents return of 510.7%. The yield on cost is 18.7%, that's how much I earn annually in dividends from TRP.

Problem is Dividend reduces your share price by the amount of the dividend. Never understood why investors buy stocks just because they pay a dividend.
@michelebiondi46126 жыл бұрын
They see it has a long-term passive income rather than a product to buy low and sell high. That's it, just a different money investing strategy.
@meowmeow584924 жыл бұрын
Interesting...from my own experience, some even ended up higher the day it becomes ex dividend. Some ended lower of course, it just market gyration that I choose to ignore as I use that dividends to buy another wonderful company selling at discounts. A very efficient strategy.
