Great video, and excellent information. This must be a 4 ounce popcorn popper, since ½ cup of raw popcorn went into the kettle. The nice lady hosting this video is 100 percent correct on how to use a popcorn popper of this size. My popcorn popper is an 8 ounce, and I use 1 cup popcorn, ⅓ cup oil, and 1 teaspoon of FLAVACOL popcorn seasoning per batch. One very important thing to remember is to NEVER double the amount of raw popcorn and oil, nor should you cut the amounts in half; the popcorn popper is specifically designed to work its very best when you use the recommended amounts of raw popcorn seeds, oil, and flavoring, if any. Most people don't know this about popcorn equipment like in this video. In such cases, read the instructions that came with the popper, or get instruction from someone that knows how to properly and safely use the popcorn equipment. It's very simple to make great popcorn in any size kettle, just be sure you know the poppers kettle capacity. For example, in a 24 ounce popcorn popper, use 3 cups of raw popcorn, 1 cup popping oil, and 1 heaping tablespoon of FLAVACOL popcorn seasoning per batch. This is the same ratio, proportion, or percentage of popping oil and FLAVACOL sesasoning as was used in this video.

Hello, I bought the Betty Crocker movie nite popcorn maker. Really nice looking. I followed your instructions, I got the butter and salt. Taste is amazing, taste like movie theater you were right. However I’m having issue with the machine itself. I put just a small spoon (the one that come with the machine) of kernel. The popcorn pop but after few seconds popcorn get jammed in the kettle… and start burning so I have to turn off the machine. Did you ever got that problem with your machine? It’s pretty annoying cause the taste is amazing. But I can’t never make a large sac of popcorn for that reason :(

I worked at theaters in the 80's to the late 90's and I do remember the coconut oil being orange. The way I make my own is to mix 15g of virgin cold pressed red fruit palm oil (which gives it the beta carotene color) with 40g of virgin cold pressed coconut oil. The salt can be done much cheaper if you just take regular salt and run it in a spice or coffee grinder. It's the same process used to make flavacol. Or you can use the "extra fine" powdered salt from Kroger/Ralphs from their "private collection" brand, which sticks to the popcorn pretty much the same way. I find this to be much more like movie popcorn back in the day before they switched their methods in the early 2000's to be more "healthy." I was unaware of this buttery coconut oil. I might give that a try. Thanks.

How difficult is it to clean that machine?
@HappyHauteHome Жыл бұрын
It seems difficult the first few times, as it takes a while but not bad after that once you get used to it.

It is soo good, especially with the secret ingredient added! Just like the real deal :)

The Flavacol is the real secret ingredient. Theatres don't typically use coconut oil, however, because it's too expense. Peanut and canola are more common, although coconut is probably the healthy choice. At home, I've used olive oil, too, but coconut pops better. Where theatre popcorn is especially unhealthy, however, is the "butter flavored" OIL they use for topping. Bad stuff. Good quality kernels, the correct measurement of oil and salt, and proper temperatures and timing can give you BETTER popcorn than what you get at theatres.
@HappyHauteHome6 ай бұрын
Absolutely! Good quality popcorn is essential for this recipe and of course the salt!
@nathanfish199810 ай бұрын
huh- never realized i do exactly what the theaters do already. though- i use the Amish Country brand rather than Flavacol, it's still the same process. i also use *more* of it than theaters do apparently

I just bought a popcorn machine. We have a problem with stale popcorn. It never fails. Any tips and tricks? Im trying to get the popcorn just right for our bible study movie night for the kids. Thanks for this tutorial!
@HappyHauteHome9 ай бұрын
Hi, it could be the type of popcorn you are using. I haven't had that problem, I would try the one I linked in the description. Also be careful with the amount of ingredients you are using, if you follow the amount I listed in the video, your popcorn will be delicious!

How often do you reccomend cleaning your machine?
@HappyHauteHome4 жыл бұрын
If I use the machine sparingly, I clean it after each use. When I use it more often, I clean is less...if that makes sense.

It doesn't need sugar. If you are looking for a sweeter taste, check out my other video for kettle corn.

Why is it that when I pop popcorn in the machine it comes out tasting stale. And I just bought the kernels too. Could it be that the popcorn has been sitting on the shelf too long?? Thanks for the video btw.

Have you ever tried popping the corn using only the at the movies pop corn brand topping oil that you show in your video? I know people who claim that using only that oil the popcorn has an incredible flavor, even better than using coconut oil, and it makes sense to me, since that topping oil also has beta carotene to give it color and flavor on its own.
@HappyHauteHome2 жыл бұрын
Good idea, I'll have to try that.

@@HappyHauteHome Please try it and tell me the results or make a new video doing it, I don't live in North America, but in my country we have Cinemark, and the popcorn there is extremely addictive, it's my favorite, of course they use flavacol, but I don't think so that is the only key to its flavor, I am sure they not use coconut oil, I have been trying to recreate that flavor since 2019, I have used different brands of butter flavored coconut oil, including the one you have in your video dutchman's and of course the great flavacol and yes, the popcorn tastes good but not as good as cinemark, i don't know exactly what oil they use there, i also tried the butter flavored canola oil and it was the worst thing that I have tried in my life, I begin to suspect that they use the topping oil both to pop the popcorn and to have that special flavor together with flavacol of course.
