And the glass bowls in the door make great plant pot holders for houseplants. They take large pots & when you water there's no chance of it trickling everywhere. Also, in the garden, some plants are invasive and you need to restrict their roots so they don't take over the whole garden. Mint is a good example of these stealthy invaders. So get a washing machine drum and sink it into a hole leaving approximately 8cm proud of the soil surface. Fill it up with the soil you dug out of the hole mixed with some fresh, peat free compost. Sprinkle some slow release fertiliser into the mix too. Then plant the mint or any other plant that you don't want to spread. Because it's sunk into the soil and is perforated it won't dry out as much as a normal large pot or container but it will stop the the plant spreading. Also, if you move house a lot or your a renter you can plant fruit trees or ornamental trees in a drum. Dig it in the same way as above and when you move you can take your tree with you. They can be very heavy mind so a sack truck and "many hands" make rescuing your tree a lot easier.

I really do appreciate the reply I'm no gardener myself I only have plants for aesthetic looks. I use the bowls a lot for salads I have not used them for plants before

Very nice ideas! Thanks for sharing. I hope the insanity with welded drums will stop or that manufacturers have to at least state clearly if their machine has a sealed drum or not because as is, it's hard to find this information at a glace. I had to contact the manufacturer to tell me if the machine i was inerested in has a welded drum. I was able to find and buy one with a rubber seal and bolts system in the end. Still..if people buy a new washer most of the time it needs to be as fast as possible and to wait for the reply of the manufacturer can be a huge issue.
