ATTENTION PLEASE: THE WIDTH OF THE MASK is 15 CM ( it was showed as 10 cm in the video by mistake, I apologize for that). You may use a piece of 100 % cotton or a coffee filter between the flaps to make this mask more effective. ( Mask is no way an excuse to go out. DIY masks are not as good as surgical mask. But it would give you some protection when you have to go out.) This project is great for people who don’t have sewing machines or all other supplies needed for making the mask. Remember the best way to staying safe is staying home as much as possible.
Please make sure to wash the mask with hot water and soap after using it. Dry it completely before reusing it. Below is the link to learn more about different materials used for diy mask
smartairfilter...
My face is 10 inches wide (ear to ear, above lips) So when I divided this number by 2 = 5 inches + 1 inch for ear strap ( so total length 6 inches ) The slit I made is about 3/4 inch (2cm) (If you increase the length of the mask, for example 7 inches instead of 6, make sure to increase the height from 4 to 5 )
You may measure your face and make perfect fit mask using this calculation. Always make sure to wear mask if you have to go out.
Please stay home and stay safe..thanks for watching!!

At bare minimum, you'd need something to close the gap around the nose, similar to the metal strip embedded in the top of the surgical/procedure masks.

Remember, the reason you wear a mask is _not_ to protect yourself - it's to prevent _you_ from infecting other people. Just because you have no symptoms does not mean you don't have the virus. Going outside without a mask is a selfish act that endangers everyone you encounter.

lightseeker888 , sadly that’s the problem with wearing a mask, it gives you a false sense of security, it also won’t stop you getting infected but will reduce the chance of you infected someone else. The best thing to do is stay indoors, protect your medical practitioners and save lives................now please WASH YOUR HANDS 👍

I'm glad you indicate that this, and other DYU masks, can only give you _some_ protection. You should not go touching the mask itself while wearing it either, which I often see people doing. I think that keeping your hands clean and a good distance from others is (for now) the safest thing. Sad, but it will probably be that way for quite a while.
@emeraldknight5522
@emeraldknight5522 4 жыл бұрын
Would suggest making two of them putting them back to back. And inserting a paper towel or other filter material in between both layers. This will act as a filter and be at least a makeshift mask you can wear. Instead of just a single layer mask, it will be a triple layer which is what the CDC recommends for best protection from the Coronavirus. A single layer mask is good but will not be as effective as a triple layer mask.

Add a cut piece of paper towel between the mask and your face to add better inhaling filtering and to trap your exhaled moisture. And changing the paper towel at every re-use allows you to wear the cloth mask a few times before needing to wash it. Also, always remember to fold the mask in half when not using it, keeping the inner surface clean and the outside facing outside - and fold it touching at the outer edges so as to handle the outer-facing "contaminated" surface as little as possible to keep your fingers as clean as possible.

Now, the world can be a nasty crazy place out there, we need a lot of courage and we need a lot of resilience after that, and we will fall down before we stand up… What really matters is the silence of the night in our conscience, when we are alone.
