After changing the blade a couple times, found one of the blade screws weren't tightening. Handy tip. Drill out the two blade screws and use a pair of nuts and bolts, holds the blade so much better.

I've found threw experience it's always best to put on the shroud first before any cable dismantling it's goes on easier plus you can never forget to put it on

You can also use the Armour Slice to take off the sleeving to expose the armour. Simply do as you did before but stop when you feel the blade touch the armour. It gives a perfectly clean straight cut that you might not get running a knife blade around.

I don't have a armour slice as it's rare for me to touch arnoured cable so not much point buying one, but it's nice to see it demonstrated and the question asked how far to go around to cut the steel wires.

@@GSHElectrical as am now back in college doing level 2 after what fells like 200 years am looking over so much stuff. I did not hear the term of 2 plate and 3 plate terms. A lot has changed. What I have been looking as is part P for dwellings were people live. Well any way what I was looking at in the onsite guide was a drawing of office below and homes above my thinking is what dangers from my installation that don't have to be under the guidance of part P can effect the homes above. Such as if I buy a row of says 4 or 5 shops and over them there are flats. If one shop changes to a DIY shop and have flammable stuff in there or kitchens servicing food gas electric. What has to be in place so no impact on the dwellings. I would think fire rated doors if the back of shops is at entrance for homes. But is there a book I can buy that will show shared units with living dwellings above. As all I see is industry an domestic but as we all know there are homes above offices an shops. There is a building I work at were the front and back lead in to shop unit as well as home unit. Fire doors have been fitted for office an shop that lead to the upstairs to living side but it dose have shared electrics.

Hse gone mad yes but I’ve seen it where a lad I was working with doing armoured cut towards himself n stabbed his hand it was like a massacre nearly lost his life cut into an artery so I agree but I still use a Stanley always cut away from yourself

The company I work for which is a large national building company has banned all Stanley knives because of too many Hse accident reports, we were issued with metabo safety knives which as soon as you try to cut something the blade retracts

But I guarantee that there's something about your company and job which is much more risky and dangerous than using a stanley knife but gets no attention. Soon all ladders will be banned and nobody will be able to do their job.

Electricians knife is not as sharpe as a Stanley.

@@jamielightfoot8167 For me that is negligible - they're both gonna cut you real good if you get caught with one. Why not just go with auto strippers. Miles easier, no safety isues at all.

If you do loads of swa you still can't beat junior hacksaw and Stanley for speed. Much quicker than this

Borrowed my colleagues slice after a couple of glands went back to the good old ring it with tape and hacksaw miles quicker also sorry to say not the best demonstration to the apprentices on how to make off a swa gland I mean a rubber mallet and you get a better connection total nonsense
