chill, guys. this is a craft vlog intended to explore one method of creating plantable paper. this video is not made with an anti-environment agenda. 1. i think it goes without saying that you plant it without the eyelet and yarn. but if it does, guys, you plant the paper only. 2. the ink used here is non toxic 3. if you watch carefully, no first hand dye was used to achieve this color. i upcycled colored sheets that would've otherwise gone to the landfill anyway, but if this is still an issue to you, read #4. 4. none of the tags i made here were actually planted, because the people i gave out these tags to found them too pretty to be buried in soil and kept them at the end of the day, this isn't a video made to choke the environment. rather this video is a craft vlog testing a craft concept. it turned out pretty, it's useful as a tag and paper got recycled. if you're really concerned with the environment, there are other bigger fishes you can fry who do more harm than this 15 minute video. Try watching Netflix's Seaspiracy and try to do something about that on a bigger scale. That video hit hard and highlighted a frightening sense of helplessness.

You are so fine with what you're doing. Of course if you are a, well I don't want to get deleted, so conscientious environmentalist with no imagination, as you say just cut off the damn stuff. I think it is wonderful what you did and a lot of people will try it.

I like this a lot but I wonder, if you plant these paper sheets with all that ink, isn't that a bit poisonous? Or are you using a special kind of ink?
@shacee3 жыл бұрын
Good question, the shiny stamp ink i used is marked non toxic. I just looked up the sarasa pen and they're non toxic too. So it shouldn't be a problem. I reckon it is best to use non toxic items. Here's an article for further reading re inks and plants: www.permaculturenews.org/2016/03/14/is-newspaper-safe-for-your-garden/

Nice video... I liked the home made deckle and the finished look... I am wondering about instructions - how to use them -- maybe on the back. What would you say for instructions? Or more about the seed/plant. I suppose giving these in a card would allow both of those. -- what did you use as screen for the deckles? I have been watching videos to decide what would work best.
@shacee3 жыл бұрын
I didn't have much instructions in the tags apart from the plant me text. 😅 i unfortunately cannot give a feedback if the seeds were actually germinated by those who received the tags. Maybe i can do a follow up video. 😊 i use steel or fiber glass screen mesh for the frames!

Very Sweet!! Think I will try to get some made in time to plant this season to see how well it works..I would think that ( at least here in U.S. that that some seeds you gather have to be put in the refrigerator for a couple weeks which helps the growing period..I forget the process term..🤔🙄 Anyway..even if you didn't put seeds in,,there are plenty other things to incorporate for natural effect. Thank You! Well done! I bet you could reuse that material that's already recycled that's often used for cup holders,eggs,protective packaging..I will have to locate some and see if it works as well, but add some brown or other color and plant materials etc... Have a Wonderful Summer! Namaste 🏵🌺🌹🌾

Here in the Philippines most seeds germinate easily, I think it is because of the weather and the soil type we have. I was able to germinate gysophila in just 3 days! Perks of living in the tropics I guess. 😉 But yes, this is perhaps good advice for people living in the US or in either side of hemisphere. And oh yes, since this video I've experimented with different paper products to recycle. Most work well, the real challenger really is to breaking down back into pulp form. I find soaking them for longer helps. 🤗 Thanks for watching the video and you have a great day!🧡🌼
@maineiacts3 жыл бұрын
@@shacee W@W!!! Awesome!! Yes,,I was wondering which papers break down faster and experimented with product catalogue paper and a similar type, like paper label on canned goods...I imagine it sill work. I just ripped up a page, and a label added some water and a touch of bleach ( chlorine for clothes etc.) to see if it would make the paper softer and to keep any mold from forming as its been pretty humid here lately! Anyhoo, soaked overnite, but ran out if ambition lol next day. Just wanted to see what the paper would do. I also thought of buying a big bag of paper pulp/ shreds like for pet bedding or dry stuff used in papier maché. I actually should just tear up all the old papers I have hoarded for the rainy day crafts etc..and then soak in a 5 gallon bucket and see if a plaster ( drywall compound) / House Paint Mixing tool attached to a rechargeable hand drill would mix the pulp up fine...If someone else tries this please let us know, not sure when I will bet to doing it.. Lots of projects going on lol! Have a Great rest of the week, Sherman's! Ttyl!💗💐🙏😇🤗🙋🏵- Mindi

@@shacee That's Awesome!!! I think the term I was looking for is Stratification..? A cool period before planting? Like putting your seeds in the refrigerator for a couple weeks if they were harvested the year before and kept inside...??.
