to prevent having to do this more than once because of bad alignment/proportions from copying by eye: 1. Punch a small hole in each drill location 2. Tape the paper to the board 3. Poke the marker through the paper to the copper board 4. Complete the connections with the marker

whatsoever, have a look at final product and him .. both are fine :D :D

I did it several times this way and it works ! I use waterproof permanent markers, no matter what brand. And I suggest to drill the holes AFTER etching, not before drawing ! This method is absolutely sufficient for 1/10 " spacing, but for SMD ? No, I would avoid it for SMD. It´s simple, it´s cheap, and you can do it at home. ( Even on the dining table ! ) Remove the ink after etching with thinner.

nice work, very unique, but you forgot about safety and you are touching "ferric chloride" by bare hands this is Dangerous for sure. please do not try this again, and you must alert the viewers too, there may be a innocent trying that without knowing the damage it can cause,.
@raypsi19 жыл бұрын
I've been touching ferric chloride for 40 sum yrs. I'm still alive and kicking If it were dangerous how come I'm still alive? It's the chloride fumes which is a gas that you can't touch, that you got to worry about. And they can't ship ferric chloride by airplane 'cause it can eat through the airplane body if spilled. Lucky your body isn't aluminum.

What a clever idea. But I agree with the others. You gotta be careful with the chemicals as they can do some pretty serious damage.
@Berghiker6 жыл бұрын
Another tip. Pour some acetone into a small square container then just put the PCB into it. All the ink will just come off quickly.

I can attest to sharpie marker pens, don't work so well, especially on 2 oz copper boards. and put the foil side down in the etchent, etches a lot faster. I have no idea why, just does etch faster. Great job thanks for sharing merci beaucoupe

N8ZU I have used sharpie's "super permanent ink" type and they work great.

+N8ZU We used Sharpies and sanded the sharpie off after etching when I did this stuff in highschool 12-13 years ago, worked fine as long as the traces where wide enough and heavy enough

Why don"t you just add some HCL to the ferric chloride solution to make it stronger? It works faster. Then you don't need to add hot water.

Hello , i made few PCB with marker i used "edding 141F" one buyed as "ferric chloride" resistant but it's not so resistant i had dissolved lines , etc ... I see that your one look's very cool , can i know what company produced that marker ?
@lillymayble54049 жыл бұрын
You should've used a prolifix rubber to remove the marker and that way the PCB would A. Been easier to be cleaned and B. There wouldn't have been any blue staining. Good video otherwise
