Man, I have watched this video SO many times. I’m a beginner and I wanted to wait until I had a pretty solid process and the right resin to attempt this technique. I followed this video step by step and I absolutely nailed it thanks to you! I’m extremely proud of how they turned out and I was able to completely avoid so many issues I know I would have run into had I not had this video to warn me about them ahead of time. Thank you, Alec! Entertaining as always and super, SUPER helpful.

HOLY CRAP- I ONLY NOW RELIZED UR THE SAME ARTIST I ORDERED MY FIRST SERIOUS DICE MOLD FROM 😍 HOLY HELL!! I already did my first dice! Tried petri dish ones but i think i added the color too late ( cause as u said: only a litlle bit dropped, or color could be a thing, cause i dont have availble any other colors than pentart resin tint). I love this cap cold, they come out PERFECT im making my first dice sets to sell in a con in my country, all the money ( or majority of it) ill be putting off to buy pressure chamber, and prehaps more blank molds from your etsy 🤩🤩. I really hope i can make something iut of this, cause this hobby really does combine a lot of my favorite small part hobbys ( art, craftin, showing small things in other small things and seeing it trough clear resin, NOT to mention how happy i was once i relized people like handmade dice as much as me and they are acctualy usefull TvT)

new resin user, here! Very fun video, gave me lots of cool ideas to try. Tho I think I made a bit of a silly mistake. I wanted to try the petri effect with a purple and a silver.... so I got a silver *mixative* hoping it would work the same as the inks. Completely overwhelmed the purple even though I dropped the purple first, somehow. Honestly I am struggling to even find what mixatives get used for in resin, so any little tips are helpful both for using that and finding a better way to get the silver effect.

So this might be an odd question but do those white dots on the top faces of the dice not matter? It feels like those shouldn’t be fully cured because of how much ink is present in that little resin.
@crisj1588 Жыл бұрын
I’m having the exact problem you describe. Ruined a couple dice sets this way unfortunately. Is there a sure fire way of stopping that?
@uselesswriting3092 Жыл бұрын
@@crisj1588 From what I gather from some of Druid Dice’s comments is the only real way to prevent the ink causing soft spots is to avoid using too much, and that if they are not cured properly you’re simply using too much ink (specifically the blanco blanco as he says in the video due to how thick the ink is)

Oh, man. These look really good. I may do something in this effect around Halloween. You have inspired me. I really wasn't into the petri effect until I saw these.

@DruidDice Are there any black or dark sinkers you recommend to replace the Blanco Blanco? I want to have jet black tendrils if possible

This is great, thank you! Can you recommend a place to buy empty dice tins with foam inserts?

Do you worry about the inks stopping the resin form getting hard because it dilutes it

I'm loving your videos so far, very informative. However I have a Vacuum Chamber to remove bubbles, not a Pressure Pot. How can I use the Chamber with the cap mold? And will it shift what is used, such as glitter or color?
@DruidDice Жыл бұрын
If you're casting with a vacuum, you'll want to prep your color and get everything ready, mix together with resin and then pour in the mold after the degassing. You can cap after 10-15 min to make sure any small bubbles that come to the surface can be popped with a lighter or heat gun

@@DruidDice ok thanks so much! lol I have done one set of dice so far, before I saw your videos. This will make it easier. Also, with the dirty poor, can I pour then vacuum or will it mess up the color design?

I plan to make petri dice as the main staple of what i wish to sell so this is potentially the best source material I could have hoped for. I'm a tryhard. Hmm... that "sinker" ink seems to take over the strands. Wonder how to fix that from happening so you could have just the teal and purple in this case.
@DruidDice2 жыл бұрын
You can mix your color into the sinker to help stop the white from over powering the effect!
@kaylahollahan1074 Жыл бұрын
Does the sinking ink have to be that specific white ink? Or could you have used the purple (for example) as the sinking ink?
@spike4972 Жыл бұрын
I know I’m a little late to the party here, but I’ll do my best to answer your question. Basically, your sinker needs to be heavier to pull the other ink down. Piñata blanco blanco is what everyone says works best for a sinker, but I’ve also used white mixative from ranger which works okay but not as good as what I’ve seen other people get with blanco blanco following the exact same methods otherwise. Which is why I ordered some recently. Another thing you can do that’s similar to Petri dish but not exactly the same is a combination of Petri dish and mica drop. Since resin mixed with mica powder to get an opaque color is denser than resin with nothing in it or just a little alcohol ink, you can use it as a sinker. Just by itself it makes a really cool effect, but if you combine it with Petri dish and add a drop of alcohol ink on top first, it will surround the mica resin as it drops down and give a very cool effect.

Is your d20 chonky? Or do you have more than one face in the lid? My d20 opening is so tiny it's hard to do cool stuff with it.
@leslakos172 жыл бұрын
and what you will going to do with the white dots at bottom faces ????
@DruidDice2 жыл бұрын
Aesthetically I like the white dots, but if you want to reduce the spotting effect, you can use about half as much of the sinking ink and that will not produce the white dots.
@Dragon21434 Жыл бұрын
I tried it with a metal alcohol pearl white, high viscosity resin, but color sat on top and mixed together, why did this happen?

I’ve had more issues with the white on the bottom being and staying soft, never had issues with the top. I see the white definitely comes through on these, is it still soft?
@DruidDice2 жыл бұрын
nope, no issues here with my blooming by the time it hits the bottom it doesn't cause any soft areas because it's such a small amount of ink. If you're having white penetrate all the way to the base face, then you're using too much of the Blanco. If you're having trouble controlling it, the best method is to pour a little out and use a toothpick to apply smaller drops.
