Blenders are there to bring all the different notes together so they are harmonious (Analogies are bridges, smoothing, glue, fillers). As their function is not to change the style of the perfume but just bring it together they tend to be lower impact materials with medium to longer lives. If the blender has characteristics of the Heart and Modifiers used in the perfume then this helps. (e.g. freshness that goes with Citrus and Green and Floral or Woody notes).

Stable Professional colours are available but consider using less stable(i.e. fade over time) food colours as they are easy to obtain from food stores - just a drop or 2 per 100 ml is sufficient.

@PerfumersWorld
@PerfumersWorld 8 жыл бұрын
Hi MercAny essential oil can fall into any step (function) - its relative to the subject of the perfume and the other materials present - See the video on Formulating by Function For example Bergamot could act as a modifier in a floral perfume, be the heart in an Earl grey tea perfume, be a blender for a eau de Cologne or a fixative in a fresh Sicilian Lemon perfume. Although commonly; Hearts - are floral notes in feminine fragrances, Woods, leather in mens, Balsams and resins in Oriental perfumes Modifiers - tend to be the high impact oils that give freshness, citrus, spice, smoke Blenders - tend to be medium to low impact oils, like bergamot, rosewood, cabreuva, herbs Fixatives - are the longer lasting notes like woods, vanilla, moss, animal notes, musks Hope this makes scents Steve

If you doubt "State of the Art" Download The Perfumer's Workbook software for perfume creation, compatible with the iSniffs system, probably the only software publicly available that generates a formula from an odour description. Read the articles in Perfumer & Flavorist about the system The ABC's of Perfumery, What is perfume?, How do you smell?, The Grammar of Perfumery, Formulating by Function etc. Why would we have ANY shame about a great system and a great product? The drop size depends on the diameter and design of the end of the dropper tube you are using, e.g. disposable plastic ones give much larger drops than the thin glass ones we use. The glass droppers we use for our system give a droplet size of 0.02 grams/drop when held upright so that's 50 drops / gram. The proportions will remain the same (ish) as long as you use the same style of droppers for all your materials except the most mobile (citrus) or viscous (balsams) materials. - Steve

Hi Rasmanda, We have our specific Fleuressence's that produce these effects and these are designed to slot together seamlessly. If you were using single aroma chemicals or naturals consider these alternatives: Light Blenders: Hedione, Nerolidol, Farnesol, Cabreuva Oil, Ambrette Seed, Rosewood Oil. Spice: Eugenol, Clove Oil Ozone: Floralozone, Calone, Benzyl Salicylate+Lavender+Oakmoss Note: single oils and aroma chemicals require a lot more experimentation to get them just right.
@PerfumersWorld
@PerfumersWorld 11 жыл бұрын
PS. The system also works really well if you only use single essential oils, absolutes, resinoids and/or aroma chemicals. Its just a lot more efficient and profitable with the iSniffs FleuressenceTM bases. Shamelessly Steve

Patchouli tends to produce a more masculine character for an extrovert rather than a "shy girl" :-). Try mixing Patchouli with other woods like Sandalwood, Cedarwood Virginian, Guaiayl Acetate and/or Guaiacwood Oil to blend it. Balancing Patchouli with Geranium Oil produces a great accord for use with Fougeres. Check out our workshops.

Yes the Fleuressence Bases and newer F-TEC versions can be used with any essential oils or perfumery materials. Due to IFRA restrictions on natural Rose and Jasmin and others like Basil and spice oils , they should be limited to around 1% or less of the concentrate. Contact us via the website with any more questions.

@PerfumersWorld
@PerfumersWorld 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Saeed, Make the perfume base - as in the video - and add the OUD drop by drop until you get the optimum amount. Slightly under doing it so that you can still distinguish the original scent gives a higher class effect than overdoing it though. Just a single drop of OUD in 100-1,000 drops increases the depth or many perfumes greatly. Steve

Flavio Bernardo Hi Flavio, The terpenes in the orange oil (& most citrus oils) don't like fixed (=non-volatile) oils like Sweet Almond, Fractionated Palm Oil, Jojoba, IPM, mineral oil etc i.e. most massage oils. If using them or Zolvent Fleuressence in the iSniffs system then Orange Oil may work as part of a formula (start with 1 in 10 but depends on the other materials used). Time is unlikely to improve this. Using alcohol should work but its water content must be low (e.g. Vodka has far too much water to use for using with citrus oils on their own. ) Check out www.kleenxtract.com/#about

Why are you searching how to make perfume then?? If you have not experienced the iSniffs system yourself then your comment does not hold water does it? iSniffs is based on state of the art principles of creative perfumery techniques and developed by a perfumery team with over 100 years experience between them. If you want more nuts and bolts creative techniques using single aroma chemicals and essential oils check out our website or register for one of our workshops.

Hi, towards the end of the video, (step 7, @ 11:05) you said you had 100 drops, (~2cc),.. and that with the alcohol it'd make 1/4oz of finished perfume,. how much alcohol do you add to the 2cc? *I ask because I don't know what 2cc is in oz's,.. thanks. :) In short,. *what's the RATIO of essential oils to the alcohol?* 20/80? Thanks! :)
@PerfumersWorld
@PerfumersWorld 8 жыл бұрын
oz (ounce) was the old way of selling perfume and still is, to some extent for the top line extraits. Figure 1 oz = ~ 30 cc (=~30 ml) 1/4oz = 7.5 cc (=7.5 ml) . So 100 drops(~2cc) in 7.5cc gives around a 25% solution which is a good average for an extrait perfume. Ratio = 25/75 EO/Alcohol or Solvent

Yes.. I was just going to say that the ratio is 1 to 4.. oops.. or is it... 1 part essential {example} to 3 parts 'extractor' ? Had previously heard it was 1 to 4, but that would make 5 parts of whole.... which is it? Thank you!!

I want to build a barbershopish base (like a vintage/dark base note). It's hard to describe, but I want a heavy musk smell for the base. Any suggestions?

They are mixtures designed to represent prime smells from which any style of perfume / smell can be produced. A little bit like a color company will make mixes of colours to represent prime colours Red Green Blue within a spectrum Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Indigo Violet as a set from which any style of painting can be made.
