How to Make Photo Stickers for Journaling & Scrapbooking

For things like setting up your tech and learning the basic functions of your printer and cutting machine, I recommend checking manuals & customer support from the manufacturer since I might not be able to answer to your questions, especially if your machines are different than mine!

I tried the template, loaded it with my photos and moved to Silhouette Studio (I haven’t purchased the cameo machine yet, but it printed great). Then I went to make more and I can no longer get the template to work. I’ve tried reloading your original link and still won’t work. I can learn more about how to make my own template (sigh), but I was hoping that I hadn’t somehow broken the template either for my use and more importantly for anyone else’s. Is there a way to confirm it still works for others? 😳

I never thought to use glossy sticker paper as a photo sticker! I recently bought sticker photo paper from a nearby stationery shop & it works nicely. I made all of my printed photos as a polaroid style & so fun to see it in my journal!

I have a Canon inkjet printer and a Cricut, but I usually use a Fiskars Rectangle Punch (1.5 inch x 2.4 inch) for cutting stickers for this journal style instead. It's a great alternative for those who don't have a cutting machine yet.

Well, it took literally three days to get my Cricut to cut the photo sticker sheet correctly. I haven’t used my Cricut very much so it was basically learning it all over again but on the third day I finally figured it out although I have no idea what I did differently from the many other attempts. I did get my portable printer charged and didn’t really need the sticker sheet but I was determined to figure it out. I’m sure I will enjoy the photo stickers going forward. Thanks again for sharing.

I would need to manually cut though because I don't have a cutting machine. But I think I should start looking into it given that I print literally hundreds of photos. I'm a new mom so... Okay I loooove the look of this! I’m currently using Canva to make layouts for my photos & then printing them on my (now very old in terms of tech development) printer, cut them with my cutting machine & then use double sided tape to paste them into my notebook. I’ve wanted to make this easier for myself for a long while, but haven’t found any good sticker paper yet so this is really helpful! Hope I’m able to buy that same sticker paper & that it’ll work with my printer too though. A question: have you done any specific settings on your printer so that the colours on your screen matches the printed versions of your photos too? And in which colour format do you save them when you’re saving from Canva? I’ll definitely be writing down all your tips in my notebook for future reference. I hope that’s okay? 🙈 I’ll of course add your handle there too! And thank you thank you thank you so much for the Canva templates! I’ll try them out immediately! 🤩🙏🏼✨

Yayyy! To answer your q's about color... I make adjustments in PhotoShop like exposure, white balance, warmth, saturation. You can a lot of this in Canva by clicking the photo and editing with the Effects/Adjust! I recommend saving as PNG if you're going to put it into Silhouette Studio for cutting, or as a PDF if you're bypassing that step and going straight to print. Hope that helps! ❤

Glad to hear it! I use Online Labels clear matte for laser, and clear matte for inkjet (I have both kinds of printers, so make sure you get the right one for your printer!)

You used an inkjet but will this work as well with a color laser? It’s all I have currently for a few more months at least.

Yes, you just have to make sure to get compatible sticker paper. 🤎

I'm a beginner and I tried doing it, everything worked in the silhouette software, however, I'm confused as to how you print on the sticker paper from canvas so that all three stickers sheets are spaced exactly how it is formatted on the silhouette software. It didn't look like you spaced them with specific measurements.

Of course 🫶🏼 you’re right! the Canva template is a little different than the file I set up for myself in Photoshop. in the second part I showed how to make your own cut lines in Silhouette Studio using the drawing tools so it should work on both files even if it’s different or you decide to alter the template (for example making sharp corners instead of rounded, or resizing the images). I wanted to keep it open ended so that it can be customized to people’s liking. After you’re done editing in Canva, you can save as a PNG or PDF and print from there or import those files to Silhouette Studio/Cricut/etc!

Hi that’s a valid question! I’m not familiar with that printer but generally speaking, using glossy or matte sticker paper will yield better quality results than regular printer paper 🤎

gosh, if anything, i just want a colored printer one day! :) it would be great to put together photos of my favorite ghibli scenes, photos of memories, or pieces of ephemera from the internet to cut out and paste. i could even make a little photo album / flip through of my favorite photos each year. :) i think that would make for an adorable gift ❤❤

Thank you for this wonderful video and all of the links- I ordered the labels that you have linked, but when I run the gloss version through my printer, the ink doesn’t adhere, it sits on top the gloss & looks awful. Any ideas?! (I have an older canon iP8720)

Thank you! I’m glad it helps! So it only works if you upload photos to Canva first. If you try to drag photos from your folder to the template it won’t replace my photo, it will just add a new photo to the template. Hope that makes sense!

Thank you so much for the templates. The first one works perfectly, but the second one does not. The frames are for each of the three sticker sheets, not for the pictures (your photos are not editable). For me is not a problem, i learnt how to duplicate things, but maybe for the others is not so easy. Again, thank you, is much easier, and the format is absolutely perfect.

It holds up well, but keep in mind I don’t expose these to the sun since they are kept in my journals. I have printed on archival photo paper and they are up on my walls and haven’t faded in months.

They should appear by default when you open up Silhouette Studio (I adjusted the inset in the video) hope that helps!

I do! . To use this template you need to have canvas subscription to make the template ‘transparent’ so you can then upload to Cricut and turn into stickers using their sticker maker function. There are some good videos on ‘how to create stickers for Cricut’ :)
