Here in the UK pigs in blankets are sausages wrapped in bacon. We generally have then as a side dish with special meal, especially Christmas Dinner where they'd be served alongside a roasted meat joint or turkey with roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, lots of different veggies and lashings of gravy! Yummy yummy 😋

We used biscuit dough and wrap them around sausage links and serve with white gravey or pancake syrup

Where i live, pigs in a blanket are hamburger rice seasonings wrapped in a cabbage leaf and popped in the oven.

I’ve made an apple version of pigs in blankets that turns out really good. I cut either some Gala apples or Granny Smith apples into eighths, sprinkle cinnamon on the crescent rolls, roll each apple slices in each crescent roll, bake as instructed on the crescent roll package, and as soon as they’re out of the oven, I drizzle honey while they’re still hot. Works great as breakfast, dessert, or snack and even better with ice cream.
@FiberSpider7 ай бұрын
I've done something similar to that, though I use canned apples since they are easier to get and a little softer. Also, I drizzle on a mix of powdered sugar and milk.
@e.ashleighcrawford11517 ай бұрын
@@FiberSpider that also sounds really good! I kind of want to try a pizza version of it. Spread marinara sauce and sprinkle cheese on the crescent rolls, add pepperoni or whatever favorite pizza toppings in place of what would be used for hotdogs or apples, maybe add melted butter mixed with cheese when rolled up and baked

Oh yum we roll the sausages in bacon before wrapping them with the cheese. So good

Before the advent of the yummy refrigerated tube of crescent rolls, we used to use a nice soft piece of Wonder bread for each hotdog. You still use the cheese slices, then lay the hotdogs cattycornered on the bread bringing two of the bread corner points up and pinning them closed with a toothpick to "blanket" the dog. The bread toasted ever so nicely and often had wonderful crispy crunchy tips. Both ways are delicious.

We make them like you do, but we use a strip of Swiss cheese and we cut the hot dogs the other direction as well, so they are half as thick. Next time I will try that egg wash and seasoning! 😊

Sausages wrapped in bacon always used to adorn the turkey at Christmas when I was growing up in the UK. What you made in this video looks more like the sausage rolls we used to take on picnics. I'm not sure what crescent rolls are, since I've never see them in the shops in England. They do look delicious, though!

I love your oven gloves. These look yummy. I'll make some Comeback Sauce (ketchup based). My dough usually doesn't want to cook in the middle. I'll keep trying. Some hot dog sauce/chili and onion might be good on the cheese too. Just about anything is good with bacon. I might try to air fry a couple to see how they turn out.

I almost didn't watch this video because I'm not a fan of cabbage cooked. My mom's version of pigs in a blanket was nothing like yours. I would use better with cheddar instead of hot dogs. Better with Cheddars is a smoked sausage with cheddar cheese bits in them. I also would switch the American cheese to cheddar cheese. Thanks for sharing.
