Try yarn needles. I use regular worsted weight yarn.

Thank you for showing how it works up. That’s super helpful! I just did this stitch as part of the (free) Mary Maxim Emma doll, on her winter coat and hat. It looked like a lot of bars showing, but once done up, u don’t see them anymore, as shown in ur video. Does double stranded still look good with this or will that mess up the shaping? I used a light worsted yarn and I feel like ya still see the bars cause the yarn is so thin. I’ve probably rewound it 100x and stretched it like taffy to make it thin like that.

Instead of a needle threader, you can use a cut up post-it-note. It’s much more convenient and inexpensive than a needle threader.

Lyn, do you know how to stitch on a round canvas? I bought some to make coasters and can not find a video that tells HOW to start and do the stitches in the center, middle two rows. The holes are smaller there but I'll use a smaller needle and yarn there.

Cute design love it but what frustrates me is the backing where you can see the plastic showing through so I cane up with an idea to do the back and the front by flipping it over and going back through the rows Yes it makes the coaster slightly thicker but that’s what I want anyway

So u do (regular) continental stitch all over the working area and then go back over with the running thread as directed in pattern. That’s better than working double stranded, which was what I was considering. I bet ur way is probably how the vintage books say to do it “to strengthen the canvas.” Mama’s booklets will tell u to perform the stitch while standing on ur head, but its ok cause it’ll “strengthen the canvas.” Lol Ur comment needs a bump cause that’s an excellent solution to those bars showing!

Puneet Makan u can use pretty much any type of yarn,if u think the yarn you’re using is thin for the project that your making, double stitch it. But dont use the fluffy yarn cause they’re too think for the hole.😊hope that’d would help u. Thanks for watching

Lyn Worley: I watched the video that you posted on youtube for the "Square Plastic Canvas Coasters". But without the verbal instructions and the angle of the canvas - it was hard to follow the pattern of the light blue and white rows (Rows 2-5). It appears that you are skipping 1 hole for each stitch.. Am I correct?? I love the pattern.. Thanks for sharing....

It is hard to understand upside down. Better to view "over your shoulder". and Sometimes when you hold up the canvas (at the beginning), the important part of the stitch is not on the screen. TY!
