My comment does not relate to this particular video, though I liked it very much. Frequently, ATK does videos that involves chilling a platter of food in the refirgerator or freezer for a period of time before cooking. Every time you demonstrate that on the show, the refrigerator is opened to reveal an applicance that is virtually emply. As a bachelor with a small kitchen and a rather "regular" sized refrigerator, there is rarely any space at all to do something like that. I think it would be beneficial to include a suggested option for chilling or freezing, if there is one, for those of us who don't have the luxury of space. Thank you for considering my comment, and particularly for all the good work you do.

If you are meaning the often typical, 15-18CuFt sized fridges with the top freezer (mine is like that, at 18CuFt) where the freezer is often fairly full and has an ice maker, I have 2 sheets that work, and I think a half sheet (13x18") should fit fine as well when needed (I just checked and it'll fit, sideways in the freezer), the other two are a regular jelly roll sheet pan (10.5x15.5") that is not as big as a half sheet, but I do have also a Qtr sheet pan (9x13") What you see on ATK is that is part of the set fridge, so they keep fairly empty, but with some items in it as it's a functioning fridge, but a set and is not the main fridge in the place. Otherwise, it'll likely be crammed full as most test fridges (or walk in's) typically are.

@@johnhpalmer6098 John, I appreciate your thoughtful comment, as well as those of several others. My refigerator is a side-by side, with the freezer sice being very narrow - less than 10 inches in width on the inside. None of the sheet pans you have described will work. I mentioned in my initial comment that my kitchen was very small - there is only a single place with both limited height and width where a refrigerator will fit. Just a bit of a design connundrum. Despite this, I have lived in this house for 38 years and haven't come close to starving - so this is a relatively minor inconvenience. Coleman

@@colemanwalsh7232 I've come to dislike the side by side models for a lot of reasons. My preference is for either the French door ones or the simpler bottom freezer models with the single door, however, the problem with those is the space to getting them opened fully and not smack into the counter so may or may not work if you have an overly narrow galley. I have the conventional top freezer that is OK, but the freezer compartment is on the smallish side.

Even with the cayenne, it wasn't too spicy for the kids. I spent less on the entire dinner that I would have paid the well known chicken place for their popcorn chicken dinner for one person, and those are always overdone and dry. a little troubleshooting. After adding water to the flour mix, dont let it sit! It gelled up and looked like lava, and I pulled big pieces of gluey wads of flour gunk. But, there still was plenty to finish the second batch, and I highly recommend this dish for the kids. or hot appetizer at a party. I set out all the popular dips, BBQ, honey, ranch, ketchup, in seperate to-go salad dressing sized cups. Everyone loved filling their plate and then grabbing a couple of sample dips. And the pound and a half of chicken breast was enough for two 12 year olds, an 8 year old, and 2 hungry adults. Happy New Year to all my coaches at ATK. I feel so blessed to share a passion with so many nice people, I can't tell you how happy it has made me and how much it has enhanced every corner of my humble kitchen. You all are THE best. Thank you.

@johnhpalmer60982 жыл бұрын
Also, if you can't get rid of it via recycling, you can just let it cool down and put into a container with a lid and toss in the trash, OR, conversely set it aside in the pantry for use another then, then toss (strain first to get rid of the bits and bobs that are in the oil before putting back in the jug or container to store)

I'd recommend replacing a 3rd of the salt for MSG (aka Accent), thats the secret ingredient at pretty much every fried chicken place. Chik Fil A uses a ton of MSG, you can actually taste it in the breading. I always found fried chicken at home bland compared to Chick Fil A, KFC, etc, even after adding extra spices, what finally made it pop was replacing some of the salt with Accent(MSG).

Use half of the salt and when you put in the air fryer use cooking spray or olive oil to coat the chicken then air fry
@theagta2 жыл бұрын
Don't forget that kosher salt requires more by volume versus table salt. It's usually considered 1.25 tsp kosher vs 1 tsp table salt. Personally, I don't like using a lot of salt (for health and taste reasons) and when I try the recipe I'll use just half the salt in the eggs and remove from the flour breading. I'm sure that'll be perfect! :D For the air fryer, I might experiment and par-freeze the coated chicken to make sure the outside gets brown enough. I notice when I cook thawed items the outside/inside doesn't finish at the right times. Cheers!

Rather than separating all the chicken pieces out by hand, can't you use a colander? It seems to me that the flour mixture would go through the holes, even if it gets a little lumpy, but the chicken pieces wouldn't. At worst, you'd have to take out some of the chicken by hand at the end. (Edit) You could even use your deep-frying spider to shake the excess flour mixture loose from the chicken pieces.
