This tamale recipe is simple to prepare. With just a few steps you will enjoy some warm tamales this Holiday Season! This recipe calls for 27 tamales but it could be doubled for more.
Ingredients:
For meat:
3 lbs. pork shoulder or pork butt
6 cloves garlic (3 for the meat and 3 for sauce)
Olive Oil (only if needed)
2 teaspoons salt (or more)
For Sauce:
2.5 ounce package Chile California or Chile Guajillo
4 to 5 cups hot water (to soak chiles)
2 teaspoons salt (or more)
1 big pinch of whole black pepper
For the Masa:
4 cups Maseca for Tamales
1 to 2 cups of lard (your choice)
1/ 1/2 teaspoons of salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
3 1/2 cups of warm water
1 package of corn husks
Hot Water for soaking
