this cannot be how valve is modelling games like Alyx, right? i first built in hammer, then worldcraft, while in high school around the year 2000. ultimately those hours of entertainment led me to a career in architecture. i cant believe this is still being used!

it's refreshing to see someone who knows how to make a tutorial. Most people have no idea what their doing so most tutorials are often all over the place and unfocused and needlessly very long with poor editing and poor planning not to mention most tutorials don't really know how to teach either. He makes short highly focused videos that focus on one thing, he gets straight to the point, he doesn't try to get you to build a whole level to teach 1 thing, he just teaches it all immediately an in a very easy way to digest and take everything in. He focuses on letting the viewer do the creating instead of him doing the creating for the viewer. ----- Here's how you add lights, lets add a bunch of random lights, now you know how to do it, so go do it in your own way and have fun creating. ----- Very good way of teaching, I wish more tutorials realized this. Every now and then he'll do a very small project to enforce everything learned but other than that, he's only showing you the how so you can make something yourself and that's exactly why we're all here anyways. Not to make somebody elses thing, but to quickly learn how to make it ourselves in our own thing.

5:40 Roll pitch yaw is used to determine in which direction most of the light goes. Most people use the point at button to do this.

I think its called lightspot_beam but I think you should use it because. it looks cool for spotlights. Just my opinion. Cool video!

stanley, back in ep 3, when I tried clipping the roof for the cube dropper, it wouldnt clip, it dosent show the white and red boxes either, can you please explain why this dosent work?

This may sound slightly patronising (sorry) but did you select the clipping tool before trying to clip?

I'm trying to insert an elevator but for some reason whenever I load it I get stuck in the shaft below the elevator and have to noclip out. And somehow my elevators have learned how to do mitosis, there are 2 elevators and elevator rooms stacked inside each other, I'm pretty sure I had the logic and elevator lined up correctly I tried removing the elevator logic and I had one elevator but still 2 elevator rooms and I couldn't go through the door. edit: nvm lol i actually did accidently just place 2 elevators on eachother
