Hii this seems very helpful I will try it! My next assignment for print making seems very difficult to do with 30+ students and just one press in a tiny room, it just gets very chaotic and it impacts the quality of prints. I will be doing reduction prints on the Lasani wood plate. Will this work fine on a wood plate?

Hi, love your videos and find your artwork very beautiful. However I didn't catch what you said at the end about ?editioning? your prints? Or did you say something else? Also how long do the prints need to dry?
@ehollingsheadart8 ай бұрын
Hi!! Thanks so much for your questions. I did mention editioning prints! It will be my next video :) If I use water based ink, the prints dry within a couple of hours. If I use oil based ink, it takes weeks (about a month) for the ink to dry!

Thank you. Do you use the glass to control the quantity of ink u use? Can I use something else. Thank u
@ehollingsheadart8 ай бұрын
I like the glass because it is a smooth, flat surface that won't absorb any ink! Makes it easy to coat the brayer (roller) evenly and consistently. Easy to clean and reusable forever :) I just took the glass out of a picture frame I got from the thrift store!
@GrantSR4 ай бұрын
Could one use a steel roller to press the paper onto the linoleum, instead of using the wooden spatula?
@ehollingsheadart4 ай бұрын
Would definitely be worth trying! I've heard of people using rolling pins, glass jars, spoons, a clean brayer, putting a book on top and standing on it even! I say give it a go!

Can you add colors with paint markers on the final result?
@ehollingsheadart Жыл бұрын
Absolutely you could! I think you might want to try it with water soluable ink vs water soluable oil based inks. The water soluable ones might smudge with the addition of a liquid on top of them! But absolutely add details with other mediums and then print another layer onto it! Sounds fun!!!

Can you wash the Lino block clean after making lots of prints ?
@ehollingsheadart10 ай бұрын
Absolutely!! I am using a water-based ink that washes off with just water. I use cold water, since the block is made of rubber, as hot water can compromise the rubber. If you use an oil-based ink to print with, you will need to use soap, vegetable oil or a chemical solvent to clean the block!

I’m using a printmaking ink made for fabric that dries way too fast for me, do you have an ink that has a longer working time?
@ehollingsheadart10 ай бұрын
You can use an oil based ink! When it dries, it doesn't wash out. It can be more difficult to print (need to use a lot of pressure) but it doesn't dry quickly. You could also try silkscreen ink but it might be too runny/liquidy for printing a linocut
