How To Make Propolis Tincture, Easy At Home Herbalism

We started using Propolis Tinctures & Salves in 2018 after Scott took me to a local Beekeepers shop in South Africa, where they sold their Propolis salve and tincture. After getting bees I learned how to make my own tincture, it's super easy and fun to do. And there are soo many health benefits to propolis! It's my go to for when I feel like my immune system needs a boost or if we have any cuts, scraps, bites, etc.
Recipe-
1 : 4 ratio
However many grams propolis you have, multiply that number by 4 and that's how many milliliters of alcohol you will use. Stir, Cover with lid (and parchment paper if lid is metal) and shake every day. Ready to strain and use after 1-2 months.

My father back in Poland was using 96 % spirytus 192 proof alkohol and to better mix propolis with alcohol he freeze propolis in the freezer for 24 hours so he could grain it in the coffee grainier. Small particles were better mixed with alcohol for more nutrients in the tincture.

In my experience, the white plastic storage lids for canning jars do not seal well enough to use for making tinctures. I use the canning lids and rings with wax paper or parchment paper to protect the lids from corrosion.

Thank you for this! I bought some and have kept it in the freezer. I wasn't sure what else to do with it aside from putting it in our smoothies and over yogurt. Guess I'll be attempting this!!! 🙌🏻

Because then you can know your beekeeper and their practices. We have lived in south africa, the beekeeper is our neighbor and we know his practices. You don't know the practices of propolis that is made in a factory and selling just because it's popular.
